House of the Dead is the Worst Zombie Film Ever Made

Like seriously guys, this film sucks.

When I first heard that there was a House of the Dead film, I was intrigued…in ‘knowing that this movie was going to suck way.’ I did not expect the movie to be this bad.

I don’t normally say this about horror films, but when I say this film sucks, it's a really terrible movie. I think this might be the worst zombie film ever made. And trust me, I have seen my fair share of bad zombie films, but I don't think I ever saw one that felt so...lazy.

Here are several reasons why this film sucks:

1. The film wasted its potential of having zombies on an island.

I couldn’t believe how bad the director messed up with this kind of setting for the plot. Can you imagine a zombie movie taking place on an island? The chances of survival would be quite low, and the characters would do whatever it took to escape. Man, I was so upset with what this film could have been!

2. The majority of the characters are dumb.

I know that every horror film needs that dumb dude or chick, but most of the cast fall into this category. I think maybe two of them had a good head on their shoulders, but the rest of the characters…just why??? It doesn't hurt to have some intelligent characters on your cast that may prove useful in a zombie invasion.

However...I don't think the director really gave a damn, and decided to make the story easy for him to write, he made every single person in this movie a total dumbass.

3. The fighting scenes are poorly edited.

I couldn’t believe how bad the fight scenes were. You would think that a zombie film would mostly focus on a raw editing choice with the camerawork throughout the film, but instead we got get the characters fighting in slow motion in plenty of shots. It was plain dumb.

I've seen low-budget horror films with much better fighting shots, that also include a lot of gore too.

Oh yeah, we also barely got gore in this movie. Yeah, I'm not playing when I say this about a zombie film, the camera pretty much cuts away when a character is getting ripped apart. I thought the point of a zombie film...is to see people getting eaten??? What the hell???

4. The villain’s motivation for starting the zombie outbreak made me burst out laughing.

I’m not exaggerating when I say this, one of the main characters asked the main zombie leader why he started the zombie outbreak to become immortal. This is the exact line of dialogue:

Survivor: "You did this all to become immortal. Why?"

Villain: “To live forever.”

What???

What kind of dialogue is that??? The main character literally asked you that question bro!!!

I couldn’t stop laughing when I saw this scene. Why would the writers even write that line of dialogue in this movie??? Or think that line was going to be good? He straight up repeated what the dude asked him!!!

There are a lot more scenes to go over, but I think these four reasons are enough to describe how bad this movie was. I will probably go over this movie one day as a full movie review so that we horror fans could have a good laugh.

I would only recommend House of the Dead if you feel like watching a boring zombie movie that will make you laugh multiple times.
