Haunted Cabin in the Woods
what happens when you become a little too crazy?

The cabin in the woods had been abandoned for years, but one night, a candle burned in the window. Julie thought that was odd since she, her boyfriend, and her friends were the only ones who were supposed to be there.
“What’s up with this place anyway?” Matt, Julie’s boyfriend asked. Noticing the lite candle in the window
“The cabin is said to be haunted by a husband and his wife who died of a mudar/ suicide in 1901. After the death of their newborn baby, the husband lost his mind. He shot his wife then shot himself,” Julie replied.
Mary nervously got out of the car; “Well, that’s disturbing. Hey, Julie, uhm, there’s a candle burning in the window.”
“I thought you said this place was abandoned and we’re the only ones coming?” Max said concerned.
“We are,” Julie said nervously.
Max and Matt had grabbed some flashlights and a hunting knife and made their way to the cabin. “That’s a bit extreme, no?” Mary questioned.
“Well, would you like to go on in first then? See which ghost will get you first or maybe a homeless person if you’re lucky,” Matt teased and jumped scaring Mary.
Mary screamed and Max and Matt laughed; “That’s not funny!”
Mary went back to the car as Matt and Max headed back towards the cabin to investigate but as they turned around there was a man standing in the window and the candle blew out.
Matt and Max ran into the house, Julie tried to yell after them but they preceded to run after them. When they got to the room where the candle and the man were, the room was empty. They investigated and looked around.
“There’s only one way in and out of the cabin. There’s no back door,” Julie commented while she continued to look around the cabin.
Matt was confused; “That’s the strangest thing. I could swear I saw a man in the window as the candle blew out.”
Matt looked out the window and saw Mary was hiding in the car with the dog. Some dog that is, Matt thought to himself. Matt waved Mary inside. She cautiously came inside with the dog.
“What was that all about,” Mary was nervous to even ask. “Is this place really haunted?”
“Said to be-” Julie got cut off before she could explain the story of what happened.
“Said to be is an understatement. A loud of crap,” Max expelled. “What the hell happened here, to begin with?”
“Smallpox had broken out in 1901. Unfortunately, the newborn baby contracted the disease and died within a few weeks. The mother was devastated but the husband had excused the wife of being an unfit mother and basically blamed her for the baby getting sick. There was a fight, and the husband lost his temper. Shot his wife in the face,” Mary was horrified in the corner of the room. The dog had whined at her feet.
“Holy shit,” Matt blurted out.
Julie continued the story as everyone settled in and unspoken decided they were all going to stay in one room that night; “Over the years families have tried to stay here but it ended with them being putrefied and leaving. One man had a heart attack. The strange thing is once everyone left the property it’s like nothing happened. The man with the heart attack- was fine once he got to the hospital. The weirdest thing is no one knows why he had a heart attack and everyone who stayed here doesn’t remember ever getting scared.”
Everyone looked confused at that point. Julie continued; “The town is aware of this place and its hold on people. Some have claimed the spirits have followed them back home. Which is creepy as fuck. If you ask me. But some of the townspeople tend to the property and try to keep it maintained. They’re basically the grounds keeper here. Some have seen the husband's ghost wandering around the property. Some have heard a baby crying, followed by the sound of shushing and the gentle rock of a rocking chair.
Everyone looked around at each other not sure what to even say to a story like that.
“Oh, come on,” Max said. “That has to be the biggest load of crap I’ve ever heard.”
“How do you explain the man in the window,” Matt tried to justify what happened.
“Julie could have set it up. Convenient how she’s the one with the ghost story.”
“How could she? We were all outside when the man ghost- whatever you want to call it stood in the window as the candle blew out.”
After about two-three hours later when everyone fell asleep, three-gun shots went off. Julie woken up by the nurse in the psych ward.
