I feel like I've been here for hours. I'm tired and I'm hungry.
Is...is that a cut on my lip? Ugh my head is pounding. Feels like I got hit with a truck.
Why can't I move my hands?
As I rapidly blink my eyes trying to adjust to these fluorescent lights I try to also move my legs, but they seem to be stuck in place to. I hear footsteps approaching but I can't seem to recognize the person coming towards me.
"Well well well, if it isn't the birthday girl"
His voice is familiar, but I'm so groggy I can't even focus.
What the hell is this?
I can't even believe I managed to get those words out of my mouth to be heard.
"It's your gift. This is what you wanted. This was your dream."
What the hell are you talking about? Who are you?
When he came down into my view and it was him. The one who I loved more than anything. The one who died so many years ago and left me alone.
You're supposed to be dead.
"Well ya know...I was. For a while. Couple years in fact. I missed a few birthdays but it was because I was planning specifically for this one."
My head was spinning and I just felt sick. He was my rock, my happiness and the one person I told EVERYTHING to. This was no dream. It was a very specific nightmare. One that I told to him after I woke up screaming, clawing and crying.
This whole time...he thought it was a joke. Something fun to do? Couldn't be. He's psychotic. This couldn't be the man I loved so much.
He walked away from me as I struggled against the rope wrapped tightly around my wrists. So tight it was practically decapitating them in slow motion. Blood stained the ground as he walked back with a rolling metal tray.
"Ever since that night, I haven't thought about anything else. I want to hear you scream in pain. I want to paint my face in the blood I draw from you. I have dreamt of this for years my love."
His eyes turned red. His voice went low. His smile was all teeth. I could see this deranged animal in front of me clear as day. He walked closer to me and picked up a scalpel.
As he stood over me, he grabbed my throat with his left hand as he leaned over me. Tears streamed down my face. He didn't care. He simply licked them off while the cold metal of the knife pressed against my other cheek.
Get...off...me.
That only made his grip on my neck tighter. He's definitely going to kill me. How could he dream of this.
How could I?
I closed my eyes as I started to hyperventilate when I realized that I never had THIS dream. It was never this.
"I hope you're ready for this."
He raised his arm high above his head and brought that scalpel down into my chest.
Kicking my legs and screaming. My arms flailing around under the blanket I woke up with tears in my eyes, unable to catch my breath.
"Babe, calm down! It's just a dream." he said calmly as he consoled me.
I snatched away and jumped out of the bed screaming. I ran and locked myself in the bathroom as he started banging on the door.
I curled up in the corner by the sink and watched him kick the door in. But he didn't have a scalpel, and his hands weren't covered in my blood.
Not yet..
Please don't.
"Happy Birthday."
The gun clicked...
BANG!
