From pandemic to psychosis in just one year (I)

It's been a year since the so-called "new coronavirus" appeared. If initially the statements of all those involved in the situation (authorities, doctors, etc.) were moderate, in just one month they became extreme, predicting a disaster, especially with the official declaration of covid infection as a pandemic.

Very quickly things got inflamed. Let's remember some of the main points:

- the statements of the officials became apocalyptic predicting a misfortune like never before

- the media starts and maintains an end-of-the-world atmosphere with almost continuous broadcasts describing how people will fall on the street, how shops will be stormed and people will kill each other, and the hypothesis of the appearance of zombies became more and more most likely

- ONLY the number of new infected and deceased is constantly running on the screen of each TV show. Later, the number of those admitted to ATI became a kind of antechamber of death

- indirectly declaring and constantly promoting the fact that any person is in fact a potential criminal by being able to transmit the virus

- psychological manipulation reaches its peak when it is repeatedly said that anyone can be a killer of children, the elderly, parents, partners, family

- the idea is induced that the health system is unable to cope with the situation, that all solutions are inefficient and that the only solution is total quarantine.

The situation peaks when the army occupies the streets with armored cars and tanks, with weapons and barracks. "Stay in the house" is constantly heard on megaphones.

All this in the situation where the number of infected was several thousand in a population of about 18 million!

Why is it important to remember all this? To understand what happened psycho-emotionally to people, which explains their behavior over time.

The way the authorities communicated from the beginning was an absolute danger, a constant, ubiquitous and invisible death threat from everyone.

From the point of view, all this forms the "perfect storm", an alignment of elements that trigger in man the specific mechanism of fear: "FIGHT or RUN". And people react like that: many voluntarily isolate themselves in their homes for months, take obsessive measures of cleaning and disinfection (an acquaintance "disinfects the spirit"). It cuts off contact with relatives, family, parents, etc.

Everyone "fights or runs away" in their own way: one recognizes and accepts that the covid virus is the main enemy and fights with it through self-protection and the proclamation of total war against it, become the fanatical supporters of medical dictators, whose "heroes" are doctors. Later the heroes are overtaken and the leadership is taken over by the military, so that the war becomes legitimate.

Others report the virus as a big scam, if they don't see it and it doesn't happen to them, the virus doesn't exist. Avoidance is the simplest and most convenient defense mechanism. Against this background, conspiracy theories are comfortably installed. The virus is an invention, the interests of the occult, etc. They oppose the system and the measures as much as they can.

The population dissociates between "followers" and "deniers". Another fracture that adds to many others: young-old, budget-private, pro-contra anything.

The way the authorities continue to communicate about the epidemic, illogical measures, incompetence, huge mistakes, contradictory statements, adds to the "perfect storm" another nuance, much more dangerous: psychosis.

Definition: "Psychosis means the loss of contact with reality, as a result of the loss of the ability to distinguish what is true from what is false."

From here, things get trickier, and this is where the true enemy of the virus comes in! How do you defend yourself from an invisible, ubiquitous enemy? Everything becomes a threat. Paranoia is closely intertwined with the obsessive idea of persecution and prejudice ("everyone wants to hurt me").

If this was not enough, the constant promotion of "safety" measures is added, maintained and aggravated: washing hands, disinfecting surfaces (?!?!), "Protective" mask and, of course, "social distancing". Not physical distance (keeping a safe distance between people) but social. The difference between the terms is essential because physical distance does not exclude… .socialization, but vice versa… .YES. Social distancing means, in psychological terms, ISOLATION. In case of danger. Man needs to unite his powers of a threat, not to isolate himself, because this causes him even greater anxiety.

I already mentioned the term anxiety. It is essential to understand the difference between fear and anxiety. Fear appears in humans as a mechanism for survival in the face of a clear, immediate, identifiable danger. But when the danger is invisible, imaginary, unidentifiable, anxiety immediately appears. Fear of what might happen. How do you defend yourself from a probability, from an imaginary danger? You can't, because your anxiety will increase. It is no coincidence that in the last year, cases of anxiety disorders and panic attacks have exploded. Followed by paranoia and obsessive-compulsive disorder număr

The disaster is complete and is coming to light: the incompetence gathered for years in all structures: health, police, politics, etc. There are no clear solutions, no financial support for the population and no measures to protect the economy. Huge sums are spent on disinfectants reaching the canal and masks reaching the landfill. Money to nowhere. The measures taken are not going anywhere (how could they be ?!) and the situation is getting worse: the number of infected people is increasing, the prospects of returning to a better situation are fading. Wave after wave of disease is announced.

Another important perspective is this: defense mechanisms have their limits. Everyone will reach their limit sooner or later. So what will he do? It will break out. That's how street protests came about and are likely to continue.

People are beginning to understand that health needs to be seen in a broader context. When you die of hunger you will eat from the garbage, when you die of thirst you will drink from the puddle, when you no longer have money to pay the bills that come monthly you will put your health aside and go out to fight with anyone. Lack of perspective on the future is more unpleasant than the risk of getting a virus that has a cure rate of 98%.

People relate differently to the numbers: some will look at the 2%, others at the 98%. Everyone acts and reacts in their own way. Is this the wrong way? NOT! It's just everyone's way of dealing with a situation.

But because "most people find it difficult to think of themselves as judging others." They offend them, make them scoundrels and "functionally illiterate" and so on.

But no one asks how they feel: children whose childhood has been suspended because they are potential killers of their parents and grandparents, teenagers who have not completed an important stage in their lives and have not started another important stage in their lives (general school high school) and who are prisoners in front of the computer that was forbidden until a year ago, young people who have no job or prospects, but who are offered pecans on every street corner and more recently on TV, parents who do not I know what to do with children and grandparents, the elderly who are seen as helpless ready to die on every street corner.
