Invitation to a dinner party

As the moon hung high in the night sky, casting eerie shadows over the old mansion, Sarah felt a shiver run down her spine. She had been invited to a secluded dinner party at the mansion, but she couldn't shake off the feeling that something was off.

As Sarah walked through the grand entrance, she couldn't ignore the creaking floorboards and the musty smell that filled the air. She greeted the other guests, but they seemed distant and reserved. The host, Mr. Graves, was a tall, imposing figure with a stern expression, which only added to Sarah's unease.

As dinner was served, Sarah noticed that the food tasted strange, with an odd metallic aftertaste. She discreetly asked the other guests if they had noticed it too, but they dismissed her concerns with nervous laughter. Sarah's discomfort grew when she realized that she was the only guest without a name card, as if she were an unexpected visitor.

Unable to shake off her growing sense of dread, Sarah decided to explore the mansion. She ventured into the dimly lit corridors, her footsteps echoing through the empty halls. Suddenly, she heard whispers that seemed to be coming from behind a locked door. She approached cautiously, her heart pounding in her chest.

Sarah managed to peek through a crack in the door and saw a chilling sight. It was a room filled with eerie paintings of people who looked just like the guests at the dinner party, but with twisted, sinister expressions. Sarah's blood ran cold as she realized that the paintings seemed to be alive, their eyes following her every move.

She turned to leave, but as she did, she caught a glimpse of her own reflection in a mirror. To her horror, her reflection was grinning at her with malevolence, while her own face held a look of terror. Panicked, she stumbled back and tripped over something on the floor.

As she fell, Sarah saw a hidden trapdoor beneath a rug. With trembling hands, she pried it open and descended into the darkness below. The air was dank and oppressive, and the walls seemed to close in on her. She stumbled upon a hidden chamber where she found a collection of old, decaying corpses, wearing the same clothes as the dinner guests.

Before she could react, Mr. Graves appeared, revealing himself to be an immortal, cursed to feast on the souls of unsuspecting guests. He approached Sarah with a menacing smile, explaining that she had been lured to the mansion to become his next victim.

Sarah's heart raced as she desperately searched for a way to escape. She found a hidden passage that led to the mansion's basement, where she discovered a forgotten exit. She raced through the dark, narrowly avoiding traps, until she finally burst out into the moonlit courtyard.

As Sarah ran for her life, she could hear Mr. Graves' enraged screams echoing behind her. She reached her car and sped away, leaving the mansion and its horrors behind. From that day on, she never spoke of the dinner party, but the memories of the haunted mansion and its sinister secrets haunted her dreams for the rest of her life.
