The Annabelle doll which currently resides at the Warren Occult Museum. A museum that was started by late paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren, as seen in The Conjuring franchise. On Friday, rumors began to spread online that the Annabelle doll had somehow been stolen or escaped from the museum. It is obvious that, all of this was just an internet hoax and the doll has not really gone anywhere.
It looks like the real reason why the hoax started has been revealed. The rumors began after a story about British actress Annabelle Wallis (Peaky Blinders) was released. During an interview with the Hollywood Reporter, Wallis talked about how she was able to get her The Mummy co-star Tom Cruise to run on camera. According to a YouTube video, the story got changed to “Annabelle escaped” when translated into Chinese and hence starting the hoax.
As some may recall, Wallis played Mia in the original Annabelle movie. In the Hollywood Reporter interview, she also talked about working with director James Wan on the film.
She said that she was very grateful to him. And that he is a wonderful mans. She added that he is so good and so hands-on, holding cameras and moving equipment. He was even fixing her makeup. He was literally her hair girl and fixed all my hair.
Last month,it was revealed that the premiere date for the highly-awaited The Conjuring 3 has been delayed due to coronavirus. The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It is now set to arrive sometime next year.
For those who are afraid at the thought of a possessed doll on the loose, there's no need to worry at all because it is simply not true. Since the rumor began, it has been confirmed that Annabelle is still safe and sealed away at the Warren Museum. But even after knowing this, it hasn't stopped Twitter users from joking about the hilarity of the situation.
With everything that has been going on this year even though Annabelle didn't actually escape the museum, it wouldn't be surprising at this point in the year if a possessed doll was actually free.Things have been crazy this year.Even though it was just a hoax, many shared their reactions to the Annabelle rumors on Friday.
Who is Annabelle?
At the Warren Occult Museum in Connecticut, there is a doll known to everyone as Annabelle. She is your typical Raggedy Ann doll, though she apparently holds a dark misterious past.
Ed and Lorraine Warren, who founded and curated the Warren Occult Museum, allegedly investigated the doll in the 1970s. According to the duo, a nursing student was given the doll as a gift and unfortunately it quickly began behaving strangely.
The family apparently reported that the doll would act aggressively, even attempting to harm some of the family's loved ones. When the Warrens were called to investigate the doll, they ruled it was possessed by a demonic spirit and thus relocated it to their museum.
The two claimed that even on their way back to the museum, the doll attempted to derail their car trip home and they had to splash Holy Water on her in the backseat.Well, all that can send chills down anyone's spine.
Currently, Annabelle is encased in a glass container at the museum, where visitors aren't allowed to even touch it, warning of the threat she poses. Before Ed and Lorraine's deaths, they claimed that they frequently brought priests into the museum to protect the case she lived in, keeping the spirit they believed possessed it at bay.Nobody wants such a doll out running around.
