The wood, the monastery, and the monk

We start our story in the woods, the type of woods you would find almost anyplace. However, these wood held a secret there was a darkness about them that unless you listened closely you would not hear it.
In these woods there was a monastery that up until this point had kept the darkness at bay, and up to this point had done it's job well. However it only takes one moment of weakness, one small crack to unravel everything. let us now look in on the monks that are trying to keep this darkness held back.
The first this he noticed was the pain, it had started in his knees then moved ever so slowly up his legs, into his spine and then finally his neck and head. This was rather odd for him in all the years he had knelt here he had never felt pain before. Hour after long hour went by and the pain got worse, the next thing he noticed was the smell. It was a horrid smell like a rotting corpse that had been left out in the hot sun by the side of the road. It was this smell that he could no longer resist, the pain was ok, but the smell was another thing. It was taking on a life of it's own and if it did not reside soon would over come him. The next to last thing he felt, no felt was the wrong word, heard he heard the voice. It was odd hearing a voice in the place everyone had taken a vow of silence, and not a word had been spoken here for over a century. The voice spoke to him telling him to rest that his time at watch was over. The last thing he could recall was felling hands on him picking him up and moving him.
When he awoke it was not in his room nor was it in the monastery. He was in a field the grass was dry and there were no trees. The smell came back to him this time it was stronger, it seemed to come from the very ground he was standing on. He looked around as far he could tell he was alone here, wherever here was that is. However he could feel that he was being watched. He wanted to call out to whoever or whatever was watching him however it seemed that his voice was stuck in his thought . It was if his vow of silence followed him even here. There was one thing that he knew if there was a hell he was in it and he had to get out before he lost himself or worse. It didn't take long however before he would find out that he indeed was not alone, because the voice returned.
The voice was deep almost animal like when it spoke it filled the sky, and shook the earth. "Hello, my little monk", the voice spoke. "For years you and your brothers have kept me, and my brothers locked away. Now you will help me escape. For years we have tried, and for years you have stopped us however my friend as they say a chain is only as strong as it's weakest link, and we have found the weakest link."
The voice went on to explain how over the many years they tried to find one monk that was weak in their faith that perhaps didn't quite believe in what they were doing. It had been hard work many times they even came close just to be stopped at the last moment. Now they had the key they had found the weak link, and with that weak link one by one every other monk would fall.
That dear readers is where I leave you for now. Next time we meet I will tell the tale from the start. What is the start you ask, well I did say the story starts in the woods, and in all honesty I have not told you all about the woods. I have not told you where the voice comes from, nor have I told you about the farm in the woods. There are also missing people and a town that is cursed because of these woods. There is so much more to go. Just you wait I will be back with another tale from the woods. Until then my dear readers have a nice day.
