CASE FILE: 001 – THE TOWN THAT FROZE OVERNIGHT
Recovered from Directive Sub-node: Vault 4-C Transcription Initiated: Two Agents Present Status: Unresolved Anomalous Event / Temporal Fracture Suspected

BEGIN FIELD REPORT
There’s a reason this one stayed buried. Not because they didn’t want you to know, but because they still don’t understand it...
You can burn photos. You can bury reports. But you can’t erase the feeling you get when a town is found intact—but the people are missing. No blood. No signs of a struggle. Just… nothing. Not even a goodbye.
February 3rd, 1982.
The U.S. Forestry Service dispatches a standard repair crew to investigate downed lines near a remote valley community in western Montana—Darnell. Population: 137.
By 7:43 AM, they radio back one sentence: “Town is here… but nobody else is.” Then silence... Then quarantine... Then Black-site protocols.
❄️ KNOWN FACTS (AS PRESERVED IN UNREDACTED FILE 001-A)
Sheriff’s office was locked from the inside. Coffee still steaming. Chair overturned , still warm to the touch. Weapons still locked in gun cabinet.
Classroom had 12 desks. Ten jackets hung neatly. One chair lay on its side. One backpack partially opened, mid-zip.
All power still flowing. Heaters running. Radios humming with static. TV tuned to dead air.
No signs of decay. No rot. No smell. Just the pause button slammed on existence. No footprints in or out. Not even in the snow.
📝 RECOVERED: SHERIFF MARVIN DELL'S JOURNAL
FEB 1 — 11:45 PM
That noise is back. Not wind. It pulses, like radio static but heavy. Mary Lou says it rattles her fillings. I asked her to tape it, but the damn machine keeps erasing itself.
FEB 2 — 2:13 AM
Ridge lights. Pale blue. Not lightning. No thunder. Not headlights. We’re not due snow tonight. Kids, maybe? Don’t think so.
FEB 2 — 2:58 AM
Thompson house door wide open. Whole table set. Pork roast steaming. TV on, but no signal. They’re gone. All of them. No prints. No noise. No one.
FEB 2 — 3:07 AM
The whole town is quiet. I don’t mean “it’s late” quiet. I mean the kind where you realize you can hear your own heartbeat. My voice echoes.
FEB 2 — 3:15 AM
I looked into the mirror... I saw myself blink... And then he didn’t.
FEB 3 — ???
I didn’t write this. I didn’t—Who is reading this?
🧊 WITNESS TESTIMONY: HENRY COLTRANE, UTILITY CREWMAN
“I remember the moment we stepped out of the rig. It was like the cold wasn’t right. Tools froze in our hands, but the windows of the diner were fogged like someone had just been breathing on them.”
“I went into the church. The bell wasn’t just still—it looked… soft. Like time hadn’t finished rendering it.”
“They burned our clothes after. Said it was a safety thing. They burned our boots. Our socks. I don’t think it was for decontamination. I think they didn’t want us tracking anything back out.”
🛰️ UNAUTHORIZED FIELD NOTE – AGENT L. (1986)
“These weren’t disappearances. They were extractions.”
“Sheriff Dell logged timestamps outside linear time. Events he couldn’t have lived through. Or didn’t know he was still part of.”
“We think the town wasn’t frozen... We think we were just late.”
UNAUTHORIZED FIELD NOTE (ADDENDUM – AGENT L.)
(Recovered margin note – Document 412B – unrelated case folder, later flagged during routine audit. Possibly intentional misfiling.)
“I’ve been reassigned, but I still see it in my sleep. Not the town. The moment it happened. Like a movie reel catching fire. Overexposed light and then… reversal. Not deletion. Rewind.”
“One of the radios we confiscated plays back my voice, but not words I’ve said. Sounds like me. But it’s not me.”
“Dell saw something in the mirror. I think I did too. They were just better at looking away.”
SURVIVOR ACCOUNT – “HOLLIS” (UNVERIFIED)
In April of 2004, a man calling himself Hollis was picked up by local police near a gas station off Route 12. He had no ID, no fingerprints in the system, and when asked for his birthplace, he answered: “Darnell. But it doesn’t exist anymore. So neither do I.”
Hollis appeared in good health except for a single disturbing anomaly: his left pupil was permanently dilated, non-reactive to light. When questioned, he claimed: “I walked out backwards. That’s how you’re supposed to do it. You face the town when you leave.”
Medical evaluation noted no brain trauma. Multiple interrogations returned identical responses, word-for-word. He was released within 48 hours, at which point he vanished from the motel room where he was staying. Sheets undisturbed. No signs of exit.
On the wall, in what appeared to be ash, the words: “We weren’t finished.”
📍 SUPPRESSION ZONE – CURRENT STATUS
Town officially “never existed.” All U.S. Geological Survey maps post-1983 omit Darnell. Land repurposed. Now labeled as an “environmental rehabilitation zone.”
Forest access restricted. No permits. No inquiries. Structure remains removed. Bulldozed or… relocated. No photos remain publicly available.
Locals report strange fog banks that drift in during summer. Wildlife avoids the area entirely. And in one case—a teenage camper was found two miles from the zone border with early-stage frostbite… in August.
🛑 THEORIES UNDER REVIEW
Electromagnetic Silence Field - A failed military experiment to induce “time calm.” Resulted in unintended phase displacement. Zero confirmed sources.
Temporal Shear Event - Rift in the linear timeline. Possibly natural. Possibly triggered. Possibly… induced.
Entity-Level Event Redaction - “It” didn’t take them. It rewrote their presence. Or folded their coordinates inward. Either way: nothing left. Nothing traceable.
“You didn’t read this. And we didn’t release it.”

🧥 FINAL NOTES
We’re still digging... The deeper we go, the colder it gets. If you’ve been to the area—or think you’ve seen something near the Bitterroot Mountains you weren’t supposed to—send it. Quickly.
❄️ NEXT DROP: FRIDAY
[CASE FILE 002 – PROJECT CAULDRON]
If the line’s still open, we’ll see you then. Until that happens… Keep your radio on low and your mirrors covered.
