Can You Survive the Night?
Can You Make It Through the Best Horror Film?

Have you ever experienced a movie so scary that it makes you want to cry? According to the audience that has watched the Film known as The Conjuring, that is the type of fear the movie displays.

When it comes to classic horror movie tropes, haunted houses were and still are the classic stable of the horror genre. That is why when it comes to the best horror film, despite the classics, I chose The Conjuring as the best horror film of all time.
About the Film
In 1971, in Rhode Island, Robert Perron and Caroyln Perron, both move their family, of five daughters, into an old farm house that they bought off from the bank. From day one since they move in, their family home ensues nightmares and terror, caused by paranormal activity. In order to help her family, Carolyn seeks the help of paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren to cast out this malevolent force. Soon it is discovered that the paranormal entity is attached to the family instead of the house. In order to receive any help from the church, the Warrens need to gather evidence of the hauntings. As the investigation proceeds, things turn for the worst at the the demonic entity possesses the mother, Carolyn and tries to kill her two youngest daughters. In order to protect the family, Ed and Lorraine takes matters into their own hands and perform an exorcism on Carolyn to cast out a witch named Bathsheba.
Aftermath
By the well use of personal effects, lighting, well-rounded actors, creepy atmosphere and solid storyline, The Conjuring is the best horror film that has left a permanent mark on anybody who has watched it. This film played with our emotions and allow to be scarred to cellars, basements, closets or just the darkness in general.
What makes this movie absolutely horrifying is that director James Wan has made this film based on the true testimonial of the Ed and Lorraine paranormal files.
The Real Ghost?
Ed and Lorraine Warren have been famously known as two paranormal investigators/demonologists that have set up a profound occult museum of their life-long experiences of haunted objects and paranormal investigations. Edward was a self-taught demonologist, author, and lecturer. Lorraine was a clairvoyant, a person with supernatural ability to presence beyond normal contact, and well known medium.

For years, the Warrens have kept files on every single haunting and investigation. However, their most malicious events, they would remove some sort of object or relic, that was sued in some form of ritualistic practice or evil way, and conceal the object in their own property where a priest is to bless the room once a month. They say they do this to conceal the evil within, and that it is better to have the evil here with the other objects than out there.
The most prominent artifact that the Warrens hold in their occult museum happens to be doll known as Annabelle. The Warrens claim the doll to be so dangerous that they enclosed the doll inside a case and prohibits any person to touch it, due to the demonic entity that still inhabits the doll to this day.

In the case files of the Perron family, they have sated that this was the most malevolent case that has no been talked about until James Wan decided to make a movie about it. The Perron children are still alive today and they have said they will not be watching the movie because they are afraid that the demonic entity might latch itself on them again. Not to mention they refuse to relive a traumatic experience like that again, even if its just a movie.
Blast from the Past
Haunted house movies will always be the best. One of a classic that still gives me the creeps to this day is the film, The House on Haunted Hill (1959). Even though its' not as impactful as the modern film, it still lays bones to the classic structure of what a haunted house shall have. Creepy atmosphere, dark corners, old furniture, and the constantly notable creepy soundtrack to alert the audience when something is about to happen or when something is wrong.
This film starts off as a haunted house get up but turns into a plot-twisting murder mystery that no one saw coming. From beginning to end, the characters leave the viewer guessing if they are seeing things, or if the house is actually haunted, playing with people's emotions.

Just like Marvel, except instead of heroes, its full on monsters, ghosts, demons and actual terrifying events and boogeymen that no one has heard of. From the sequel, to Annabelle, to The Nun, the Conjuring has laid its way to horror fanatic hearts in multiple ways.
