outside the bustling city of Dhaka lies an old village called Baulbari—a place shrouded in silence, mystery, and whispers of the dead. Locals still speak in hushed tones about the haunting tale that unfolded there decades ago.
Part 1: The Arrival
Noyon, a young urban blogger, was working on a video series titled "Haunted Places of Bangladesh" for his YouTube channel. After deep research, he stumbled upon the abandoned Rajbari (palace) in Baulbari. Legend had it that seventy years ago, a zamindar’s daughter named Labonno had taken her own life in that house—and since then, eerie shadows and sorrowful cries had haunted the nights.
Determined to capture real footage, Noyon made up his mind: he would spend a night in the Rajbari.
Part 2: The First Night
The palace was a crumbling ruin—broken windows, rotting doors, and walls covered in thick vines. Noyon set up his camera, switched on the lights, and began recording every corner of the house.
As night deepened, the air grew heavier. Suddenly, his camera turned off on its own. While trying to restart it, he heard a faint whisper behind him:
"Why have you come here?"
Chills ran down his spine. He turned quickly—no one was there. Brushing it off as wind, he continued exploring. Minutes later, he saw it clearly—a shadow emerging from the dark corner of a room, slowly approaching him.
He backed away, heart pounding. The shadow came closer. And then—everything went black.
Part 3: Labonno’s Story
Noyon woke up at dawn, lying on the verandah of the Rajbari. His camera had recorded nothing. Confused and shaken, he returned to the village.
An old woman named Shefali called out to him. "You went to the Rajbari, didn’t you?"
Noyon nodded.
With a sigh, Shefali told him Labonno’s story. "She was a kind soul. She fell in love with a poor village boy named Ranju. Her father, the zamindar, was furious. He had the boy killed. Unable to bear the loss, Labonno threw herself from the palace tower. Since that day... her spirit has never left the Rajbari."
Part 4: Through the Shadow’s Eyes
Realizing this wasn’t just a ghost story but a tragic tale of love, Noyon made a promise—he would free Labonno’s spirit.
That night, he returned to the palace. This time, he brought with him a small lamp, rose petals, and a wooden plaque engraved with the name “Ranju.”
Climbing to the rooftop where Labonno had died, he lit the lamp, scattered the petals, and said,
"Labonno, you’re free now. Your love is no longer forgotten."
For a moment, everything went still. A heavy mist surrounded him. And slowly, from the haze, a figure emerged—a girl in a white sari, long hair flowing, a faint but sorrowful smile on her lips.
"You know about us?" she whispered.
Noyon nodded. "Your love was real. No one could destroy it."
Tears welled up in the girl’s eyes. Then, slowly, she dissolved into the wind.
Part 5: Peace
After that night, the hauntings stopped. Villagers say Labonno's soul was finally at peace—thanks to Noyon.
He posted his final video, which quickly went viral. But from that day on, Noyon never explored another haunted place again.
Why?
Because he learned something that night—not all shadows are evil.
Some are simply searching for peace.
