Chapter One
"Damn." Serina muttered under her breath as she sat up slowly. Reminiscing about the weird dream that has been haunting her since she turned twenty-one. Images of vampires screaming and burning on stakes and crosses flashed into her head. Frustrated Serina got out of bed and walked downstairs to the kitchen. Scanning the fridge, only to be reminded that she and her roommate needed to go shopping. Finding nothing that could hold her interest, she ventured back upstairs to her room. Laying back down hoping to get some rest before morning. Soon she drifted back into a deep sleep.
They were running fast, faster than her eyes could perceive. They were being chased. The young girl was falling behind, but the young boy didn't seem to notice. The girl tripped. The boy finally noticed and stopped a few yards away.
"Hurry, Isabelle!," He yelled just as the mystery assailant appeared behind the young girl.
The dark shadow towered over the girl. It held no real form except for it's seemingly humanoid face with glowing red eyes.
"Darius!!!," Isabelle screamed right before the shadow swooped down engulfing her.
As if sensing her presence the shadow looked up with it's glowing red eyes straight past the boy into the eyes of the invisible onlooker. Serina tensed as her breath caught in her throat.
"I finally found you.," It hissed as it's eyes began to burn brighter.
Serina woke with a scream. She searched the room with her eyes, still feeling the weight of the shadow's gaze. Trying to make sense of this new dream as her breath slowly normalized. She closed her eyes and tried to summon back the events that had transpired but all she could see were those menacing, empty red eyes staring into hers.
"If I never saw those eyes again, it wouldn't be soon enough."Serina muttered to herself as she peered over towards the clock.
"Shit!" Serina exclaimed as she jumped out of bed, "This damn dream is going to make me late for work."

"Darius, come back here.,"Lisa insisted as she followed behind her brother.
"And what purpose would that serve?,"Darius growled,"This conversation is unwanted, unnecessary and beginning to wear down my patience."
"I don't think that we can ignore it any longer and father agrees,"Lisa replied with a huff, "We are simply worried that you will not find a mate soon enough and you know it is dangerous to be unmated at this age; You have lived nearly two millennia."
"Restating facts that I am fully aware of won't make my mate magically appear, Lisa "Darius growled taking his voice an octave lower, "Besides these things do not hold prevalence for the time being, I have been called out on an assignment."
Lisa's face hardened, She opened her mouth as if to say something, but merely shut it and stormed away.
Darius sighed and rubbed the heels of his hands into his eyes. Realizing how tiresome these conversations subsequent arguments were getting. It troubled him that it was putting so much strain on his father and younger sister, but with the smell of battle in the air, his marital status was the least of his worries.
