Blood and Black Lace is Like Three Horror Movies in One Film
We horror fans got a three in one package deal!

Giallo is one of my favorite genres in horror. Giallos are considered horror slashers with a bit of murder mystery elements, and every single death and scene in the film is captured in beautiful camera shots.
It’s crazy to say that the murders are beautiful, but I’m being serious here.
Don’t worry, I’m not insane.
Each director who has made a Giallo film has made their films stand out in several different ways when it comes the murders. The blood is always purposely fake, but it somehow adds to the film.
It’s like watching a grotesque painting come to life.
Now, why did I feel the need to mention my favorite slasher genre in horror?
Well, it’s all because I accidentally watched one of the best Giallo films ever made!
Blood and Black Lace genuinely surprised me with how great this movie was. From my personal viewing experience, this film was like watching three horror movies in one.
And it surprisingly works!
The first part is a “Who Dun It” Murder Mystery, and the introduction of the characters is original and fantastic.

The opening shot of the film literally begins with a woman being murdered. Strong start. What’s crazy is that this woman was apparently very important to the main cast that is introduced to the film.
The woman had worked for a model agency, with her co — workers and her employers. She apparently wrote down the secrets of her peers behind their backs, keeping everything she knew in a diary.
None of the people she worked with didn’t seem that angry over her death. They appeared to be relieved that she was murdered, which is pretty messed up.
It’s obvious that the film is purposely not wanting their audience to like any of the characters. Another interesting plot development is that we don’t actually get a main character in this film.
I think it’s genius that the director wrote the film like this, he wanted his characters to be seen as ‘whatever’ to the viewer. All because they would become future targets by the slasher.
This film also features one of the best openings to a Giallo film. We get an introduction of all of the characters posing with red mannequins. How cool is that?
The second part features a lot of people getting murdered.

It felt like whiplash once the second act of the film began. Even though I knew I was watching a Giallo film, it still really surprised me.
The film is immediately thrown into the murders, and each person that is selected is killed brutally. The killer’s look was so simple, yet so iconic!
The killer was dressed completely in black with a white lace over their face. It came off so uncanny, and it was pretty disturbing that the killer never made a sound as everyone got killed.
It was even worse watching everyone put up a fight against the killer, only to lose in the end. The killer was for sure in the top 5 slashers of all time in Giallo. This slasher just went straight to business with every single death!
The third act of the film reveals the killer, and is so shocking with the execution!

This part of the film was by far the most shocking part of the story. The way that the killer is revealed is just placed in front of the viewer, and we just have to accept it. I loved how the reveal isn’t suspenseful in the slightest.
We are given a reason, and the audience just has to accept it.
Genius.
The other Giallo films I had seen beforehand was building up to the twist reveal, and it worked really well!
In this film, are we shown the killer from out of nowhere, and it still works!
I became even more intrigued, wanting to know what was going to happen next! It was a new direction in the Giallo slasher, and I think the reveal of the killer is a great original idea!
It turns out to be two killers.
Yes, two killers.
They were a married couple, Christina and Morlacchi who worked within the agency, and were determined to kill anyone. They found out that the first person they killed in the film contained a diary of secrets, and they went crazy everyone that worked for them.
They decide to commit one more act of murder to confirm that they were not responsible for any of them, so that the detective behind this case won't come after them. Christina freaks out over the murders and when she hears a knock at the door, she falls through a window. When she comes back to her husband a bit injured, she realizes he was the one who pushed her through the window.
She kills him and calls the detective, confessing to her crimes.
This film is so bleak, I loved it!
Please give Blood and Black Lace a watch! You will absolutely love it!
