This house sat just outside of the rest of society in New Orleans. There was a coven of nine vampires in all that lived here together. The youngest and newest in the coven was this kid named Jeffery Lewis. He grow up around these parts but not really from nowhere. His dad was hardly ever home when they had a place to call home that is! His dad spent most of his time at the bar and with being at the bar that is where the money went as well. His mother stayed around for the most part when she wasn't old doing something.

As Jeffery started to get older his mother didn't want him around unless he was doing something for her. It got to the point Jeffery's mom started getting really abusive with him. He took the abuse for a while until he hit the age of eighteen and then figured he could do better on his own. Even though he knew he would have to stop by every now and again to check up on them and see how things were going.

He spent the greater part of three years working at the fishing docks trying to change his life around. He was doing a pretty good job at it as well except when he would go and find his parents. His dad was no different than before, Jeffery would meet him at the bar. By the time his dad was ready to go, he would push the tab off on Jeffery to pay. When they would get to where his parents were staying; his mom would wrap him in a hug and ask how he was doing. The evening was just full of small talk about what each other have been doing. Then by the end of the night Jeffery was handing his mother the last little bit of cash he had left. Telling her to pick some things up for the house because they both looked like they could eat some more.

When Jeffery was about to turn twenty-two years old. His mother became ill with a fever that the doctors couldn't help her with. His father was still hitting the bar pretty hard with this new stress. It was two days before Jeffery's birthday that his mom past away. He seen his dad one more time after her passing and yet again he was in the same spot. Drinking his sorrow away in another bottle of whatever the bar keep would give him. Jeffery would pay for his dad's tab this last time but couldn't tell his dad that it was the last.

After he left the bar that night he decided he wasn't ever going back there ever again. The way he looked at it that place turned his father into something different than the dad he once knew. And with his mother gone the old man should be able to handle this on his own.

On his way back to his small apartment down by the docks; he felt like someone was following him! So, he sped his pace up for just a moment and then he stopped on a dime. That way if there was somebody they wouldn't know what he was doing. Sure enough there were foot steps but the only thing was there were more than one set coming up on him. He turned around quickly but he only seen one older man coming up to him.

As the man approached him he had a calm demeanor about him, so calm it was weird to Jeffery.

The man spoke first by asking, "how are you doing this fine evening?"

Jeffery answered with, "I'm fine just heading back home from the bar. I have work tomorrow so I can't just stay out all night."

"Yeah, you don't seem like you're drunk." the man responded.

"Nope, not drunk at all! I go there to meet up with my father and talk with him for a while that's all." Jeffery toted back; "Why does it matter to you anyhow?"

"It doesn't really! Just figured you could use some company after leaving the bar is all."

"Well you were wrong I'm good and got stuff to do tomorrow. So, if you don't mind I will be on my way. That way I can go get some rest for my long day ahead."

They both just stood there and stared at each other for a few minutes before the man said, "Well if that is what you want so be it. Just know that I will be seeing you around at some point."

Jeffery looked at him for a split moment, "Well I hope you have a good rest of your night sur!" and walked away.

The rest of the night he just lied there thinking about the odd conversation he had with a stranger. And, what he meant by he would be seeing him around. Who is he that he would be seeing me around. Good thing that is the last time I'm going to that bar, he thought.

The next day at work it was still going through his mind. Trying to figure out who this man was and how he knew him. There was no way that he has ever met this man face to face before because Jeffery would have remembered him that way. He was lost in thought when a guy walked up beside him.

"Hey, Jeffery how are you doing today?" A young man not much older than him asked.

"Hi, Jonny it's going alright I guess. Had a weird last night but today is going better." He responded.

"Did you meet a girl last night Jeffy?"

"No, I didn't mean no girl last night! I think in ways that would have been better." He laughed, "No I had a guy come up to me after I left the bar meeting up with my dad."

"A guy? I didn't know you were like that."

"I'm not! I am pretty sure there were more than one person around me, it wasn't just him. It was the oddest feeling having someone follow me last night. Almost like they never left, just stayed in the shadows."

" Jeffy we have known each other for a little while now, haven't we?"

"We have Jonny and my name is Jeffery not Jeffy.

"I know, I know but anyhow you know we have talked about vampires and all the things happening in your life. You said you would be more than happy to become a vamp. Well I put in a word for you and that guy was Jacob the coven alpha."

"Are you for real Jonny? I thought all that was just talk. Yeah it would be cool and all but didn't think for a minute we were talking reality. So, you are tell me you are a vampire as well?"

"Yeah that is what I am tell you and yes it has all been real talk that we have spoken." Jonny answered. "You want we can have another meeting later on this week, I just have to let Jacob know."

"Well, okay lets make it Friday that way neither of us have to work the next day. I don't feel like pulling an all nighter then having to get up and come into here."

The week went by rather quickly Jeffery thought with working and talking with Jonny about the coven and how everything worked. He thought he had a good understanding of how things went. He also knew that he would be the youngest in the coven. Some of it he was still unsure about but who wouldn't be. Everything he knew about vampires a week ago he thought was fake and now he has one talking to him right here and now. Wow how things changed in a moments notice these days.

Next thing he knew it was Friday after work and Jonny told him that he would be picking him up in a couple of hours. So, Jeffery headed back to his apartment to get cleaned up for his evening out with his friend and his friends.

After he opened the door and sat down the stuff in his hand; he headed for the kitchen. He got out the bread, butter, cheese, and a can of tomato soup. Grilled cheese and tomato soup always helps to fill the belly after a long hard day. It didn't take him long to finish it up. Then he was getting into the shower to get the smell of fish off him. It seemed to always surprise him on how much that fishy smell soaked into his skin.

He probably stayed in the shower too long because by the time he was about to step out there was a knock on the door. He wrapped a towel around him and answered the door. When he did the first face he seen was that of Jonny. Standing right behind him was the guy from the other night, Jacob.

Jacob smiled at Jeffery when he noticed that it was him. "I told you I would be seeing you around didn't I kid."

"Why yes you did sur!" Jeffery responded. Without really knowing what else to say.

"Sur" Jacob said in laugher," You can just call me Jacob, I'm too young for all that sur crap."

"Okay Jacob you and Jonny are more than welcome to come in and have a seat while I finish getting ready."

Jacob agreed and waved his hand at someone else that must of been in the car waiting.

"Don't worry that is just Jade waiting for us. She doesn't mind waiting down in the car."

"Okay it shouldn't take me long, just have to put on some clothes and brush my hair."

Jeffery hurried up and got everything put on and brushed his hair. Then they were heading down the stairs to the car.

And there she was the woman Jacob called Jade just sitting in the driver seat waiting for us to arrive. She was smiling when she seen us finally coming along.

Jeffery couldn't help himself from staring, she was a smoking hot redhead with deep green eyes. No wonder her parents named her Jade. Makeup all done up and not a hair out of place. WOW that girl is beautiful he thought.

The first thing she said was, "What took you guys so long?"

Jacob said smiling, " Yeah I guess the new guy likes to look pretty all the time." Looking back at Jeffery. "Oh by the way this is the new guy Jeffery, Jeffery this is my partner Jade."

Jeffery smiled and just looked at her, "I'm sorry, yes I'm Jeffery hello."

She laughed, " You all take to long, hurry and get your butts in!"

It only took a short period of time before they got back to the house. As they were pulling in, it didn't seem like anyone was living here at all. No lights on and the front yard looked like it hasn't been tended to in years. Other than that it looked like a nice place for a large family to live.

"So this is where you stay at Jonny? I figured you did the lawn work as well." Jeffery broke the ice with.

Jade chimed in, "Nope we keep it looking like this so no one will be coming here to bug us. We're the ones that do the bugging around these parts."

Jonny said, " Ain't that the truth." without even turning his head away from the window.

"Well let us go in and meet the others and then we can be on our way out for a night have fun. This should take as long as about what it takes you to get around Jeffery." Jacob remarked.

"Oh, shut up and let's get this over with." Jade said in response.

Before they even hit the porch there was three people standing waiting for them. When they got to the stairs there was two guys standing on each side posted up.

Jacob stated as he started up, "This is Brian standing to the right, for he is my right hand man. To the left is Scott, he was the newest one before you came along. Oh, and that is Kerry over there acting like she isn't even there. If she doesn't talk well just ask Jonny, he will fill you in. She is the shy one out of the bunch."

When they opened the door Jeffery could hear a couple other people. With how the voices were sounding Jeffery was thinking they were girls but they were upstairs in the house probably in the bathroom.

Jacob yelled up the stairs, "Sindy, Racheal we're all in the living room, hurry your butts up!" as he was coming back out of the kitchen. "Hey Jeffery you want a water or soda or anything?"

"No I'm good thanks anyhow." he responded.

Just as he spoke he could hear the two girls coming down the stairs to join them. They both were wearing tight night club kind of dresses with their makeup done. If you seen them you wouldn't believe that they were vampires.

The first to join them was a long legged brunette woman with mid back length hair. Wearing a mid hip blue sequins dress with a black leather jacket over her shoulders. Strolling in behind her was a shorter blonde in a knee length red dress that hang over her right shoulder while still covering the other.

"Well thank you for joining us. Jefferey this is Sindy in the blue and Racheal in the red. Girls this is Jeffery! Did you girls get everything you wanted to do done?" Jacob asked.

Sindy started to reply, "Well I was thinking about changing again so I would match better but than again I really love this dress. So, I figured it was good enough for tonight."

"Well, alright then." Jacob said, "Than we can get this show on the road and get things started so we can go out in a bit."

Jacob starts to speak, "Jeffery, we are all gathered here and dressed to impress to welcome you into the family and into the coven. We don't dress like this all the time, only when there is something to celebrate and today we celebrate you. Your rebirth into this never ending life with us. We take you as our brother into this life we will walk together. Do you take us as your brother's and sister's?"

"Yes, I take you as my brother's and sister's." Jeffery answered.

"Alright, let us continue," as Jacob grabbed a pillow off one of the two couch's. Brian went to one side of the large coffee table and Jonny went to the other. They both reached under it and pulled something that made all four legs extends to about waist high. You could hear them as they locked in place.

Jacob placed the pillow at one end of the table, then looked at Jeffery. "It is time for you to take your place here on the table Jeffery."

He really didn't know what to think but he knew he was to follow Jacob's lead. So, he walked about the middle of the table turned around then sat down. He took in a deep breath then laid back so, he was now looking up at Jacob upside down. Jeffery by this point was in a state of confusion. So many thoughts flowing through his mind but not a single one of them were sticking.

Take your places he heard Jacob say to the other's. Now Jeffery could see everyone around him. The women were on the left and the men were on the right. Jacob and Jade were the one's standing closest to his head and then there was Brian and Sindy standing next to them. Jonny and Karry were the next in line standing by his hands and then Scott and Racheal were the one's stand next to his feet. Scott and Racheal were taking his shoes and socks off. While Jonny and Karry were rolling up the sleeves to his shirt bearing both of his arms

Then Jeffery started to hear Jacob speak again and what he was saying wasn't making much sense at the moment.

"Brother's and Sister's receive this offering from the one whom wants to join the family. He has agreed to be one of us and live this never ending life together."

Just then it became reality to Jeffery as he felt six mouths touch his skin and then teeth sink into his flesh. He twisted in pain for only a minute and then the pain was gone. They had stopped biting him and drinking his blood. Then all of a sudden he felt two more bites sink into his neck but this time the pain wasn't there like the first time and it didn't seem to take as long. After the last two let go Jeffery just stayed lying there in a daze with an emptiness inside his mind.

Jacob started to speak again and this time it came in smoothly. "With your sacrifice to us, we give you our sacrifice." Each one made a cut on their wrist to allow blood to seep out. Jacob and Jade were the first to make their offering by dripping some of their blood into Jeffery's mouth. In doing so each of them said, "Receive my offering my brother." They all moved down in line and each gave Jeffery some of their blood. Then they all gathered around him again and all spoke at once, " welcome to our family brother."

As Jeffery heard this, he was starting to fade out of conciseness.

After he was fully passed out the guys moved him upstairs to the empty room at the end of the hall. They all knew it was going to take it out of him because they have all been through it. Each one can take a little longer or less time to go through the changes than the other. So, it was his time for rest.

"Okay, time to change and get ready to go out," Jacob told the others. "Jeffery will be thirsty when he wakes, so lets find him as nice piece of drink tonight."

"Hell yeah they cheered."

Before you knew it they were all loaded up in the cars and headed to a night club on the other side of town.

By the time Jeffery woke up everyone was already back. He could hear them all moving about in the house. A couple of them were upstairs and the others were downstairs doing something, he couldn't quite tell what though. All of a sudden he could smell something or better yet someone in the room with him. He sat up rather quickly and then he seen her. A blonde that was wearing a dress with flowers on it. She had a blindfold on and gag in her mouth. She was just sitting there tied to a chair in the corner of the room opposite of him. She wasn't moving so he couldn't even tell if she was alive.

Well anyhow that was until his feet hit the floor. The girl must have felt the vibration when Jeffery started to stand. She was trying to panic but it wasn't doing her much good. The chair she was tied to was bolted to the floor; like this wasn't the first time somebody was tied to it. As he was getting closer to her, he could smell more than just her perfume. He could smell the sweat that was coming out her pours, even the blood running through her veins. Not only that but he could hear everything about her as well; like how fast she was breathing how hard her heart was pumping. Even the rope as she was teasing up was making sounds he couldn't have heard before.

As he stood next to her, her pulse hardened. So much that her jugular vein was beating out of her neck. He gently brushed her hair back away from her neck. This way he could have a even better sight. After about a minute or so, he couldn't take it any longer. He slowly bent over and kissed her neck where the vein was popping, and whispered, "It will all be over in just a minute!" He pressed his teeth into her neck and bite down just as gentle as he brushed her hair back.

It didn't take long before Jeffery started to feel the girls breath and pulse start to fade away. He drink until there was no more life inside the girl. He knew then that, that was the only when was to kill each human that fed him.

Jeffery cleaned off the sides of his mouth and decided it was time to go to and talk with the rest of the house. Before he was even out his door Racheal and Sindy were standing in their doorways. They didn't even say a word as he walked by them and started heading down the stairs. They just kept sharing back and forth and then back at him. Then when hit the bottom the guys and Jade were sitting in the living room.

Jacob was the first one to speak to him after he awoke. "So, how are you doing in your waking hour?"

"Oh, you know how I feel; still a little tired, really thirsty, hell of a senses' lift; oh yeah a strange girl in my room and found what I was thirsty for. Now I just want to move around for a while and get use to some of these feelings that I'm not use to having. Then we can sit down and you can fill me in about how some of this goes."

"Sounds like a fine idea to me Jeffery. Did you feed?"

"Yeah and that is one of the thing you will need to share with me more about."

"Sounds good" Jacob replied, "I will either be down here or my and Jade's room is the first door on the left."

"Oh wait I do have one question. Are we allowed to go out in the daylight?"

This got a laugh out of everyone other than Jeffery. "Yeah we can go out in the daylight. It just depends on how bright the sun is; not direct sun. Unless you are covered than you can. That whole lie the humans tell themselves it to make them feel safe."

"Okay, well I just head to check. These are some of the kinds of things we have to talk about.
