- Have you, Explorer, ever seen anything so stunning? As you move through the forest, you notice that the trees' smooth, pitch-black bark gives them a certain air of witchy elegance. The ground is covered in a luscious red carpet of red grass and crimson leaves that have fallen from the numerous long, intertwining branches above. This is dusk. The sky is a deep blue with white star clusters scattered about. There are murmurs in the air that you can hear the forest's music. You find yourself breathing with such ease here after visiting so many terrifying locations. It seems impossible, too perfect, and too beautiful to be true, but could this really be Level 14 of the Backrooms? Explorer, however, it is. Greetings from Level 14.
- This is paradise; welcome. You proceed to walk as you seek out more. With its majesty, your eyes are almost wet. Freshly cut grass can be detected in the air. A large, white moon is hanging in the sky in the distance, and its light seems to soothe you. You have the impression of being in an exquisite painting that you may have once seen in a dream. Maybe this level is a reward for all the pain you've been through a pardon. The vast, icy desert of ill will is punctuated by an oasis of light. You observe more odd objects on the ground as you continue to walk. If bones are present among the grass and red leaves, they appear to be made of a glistening crystal. Diamond-studded. They have beautiful reflections of the moonlight. What even is this place?
- You're just walking along, eager to discover what you'll come across next, when all of a sudden you get hungry. In such a spotless environment, it seems like a base and ugly urge. The same confusion and dread you feel when you reach for your backpack to get a snack only to realize you don't have it on. How could this be your food, your supplies, or your weapons? The worries then leave your mind as you take in another lungful of that fresh, crisp, slightly scented air. In some way, you will deal with this. You haven't made it through the Backrooms' fifteen levels without being incredibly resourceful. It only takes patience and taking things one step at a time to recover anything that has been lost. You're hungry nonetheless.
- You'll have to find a solution. You keep moving through the strange woods of this paradise from a fairy tale, looking everywhere for something to keep you alive. A dew-kissed apple lying on the ground amid the dead leaves is then discovered. A more appetizing apple has never been seen. You take it up and examine it carefully. A wonderful specimen that seems like it belongs on a cartoon teacher's desk. It has deep, rich skin that shines in a way that makes it even redder than the underbrush, and it is plump and shaped. Just the sight of it makes your mouth water. You decide it's time to treat yourself when your stomach begins to growl. You bite into the apple and eat a sizable chunk.
- It is just as delicious as the appearance of the apple would imply. You feel wonderful. Even in the old world, you were never this calm and content. What is it about this place that makes you feel that way? You were eaten alive by anxiety, like starving rats in a pit. Every night, you had trouble falling asleep because your worries, doubts, and fears kept you up in bed, staring at the ceiling. It was damaging. There were a lot of days when you couldn't even get out of bed, let alone sleep. Even before you stepped foot in this world full of nightmares and monsters, you were frightened of the world. Every time you tried to breathe, there was some invisible force pressing down on your chest. On Level 14 of the Backrooms, you can breathe a lot easier.
- Inhale the air as you do. You want to get wasted here. Although a part of you wants to stay here forever, you are curious as to why you feel this way. What's going on? As you continue to stroll through the eerily magical forest, you come across a clearing. A sizable, level area covered in the same red grass. People are also present. People with wide smiles and white robes are joyful. People dance around a maypole in this peaceful, rural setting. Others eat and converse happily at a large table. You haven't ever seen people in the backrooms look so genuinely happy. Although there is absolutely gorgeous music in the air, nobody can be seen playing it. You're not sure if it's really out there or just in your head. Some of the dancers start to approach you as they suddenly catch sight of you.
- They have their arms extended and are grinning warmly. You truly feel at home. You hardly even realize it, but you're grinning. It's the first time in as long as you can remember that you feel like you belong somewhere. You're invited to the clearing to join the Level 14 residents in their celebrations. Similar to how you feel in your heart, they speak about this place with reverence. They confess to you that they had terrible encounters in the other backrooms and had even lost friends and family members to the monsters that lurked on the various levels. They were pursued by Smilers and Dullers, attacked by creatures in the dark, deep waters, and subjected to mental torture by the Beast of Level 5. Level 14 served as a haven from the horrors.
- Why would they want to leave, and you can feel it in their words? You've lived in fear your entire life. Is it really so wrong, so self-centered, to want to relax for the brief period of time you have left? This place seems lovely. One of the friendly, robed people extends an invitation for you to join them at a nearby dinner table. Don't you want to see the rest of it? Don't you want to build yourself a nice little life here? Various roast birds, apples, glass bowls of berries that look delicious, succulently sliced ham, and a variety of desserts, from elaborately molded jello to bowls of warm, delectable custard, make up the beautiful feast. Even though the first apple was delicious, you couldn't be more eager to dig into this amazing meal.
