Astronauts Watch The End Of Our Earth

The hum of the International Space Station resonated like a distant heartbeat, a soft reminder of life amid the vast emptiness of space. Commander Alex Miller, an astronaut from the United States, floated in the cramped control room, his eyes glued to the screens displaying live feeds of Earth. Everywhere he looked, the vibrant greens and blues of his home planet were marred by streaky red flashes that danced across the monitor. The news was devastating, as nations were on the brink of nuclear war.

Beside him, Mikhail Ivanov, the seasoned cosmonaut, unlatched his helmet and ran a gloved hand through his dark hair. When will they stabilise communications?" he asked, anxiety so clear through his voice.

Alex shook his head. They haven’t yet. It’s complete chaos down there. We are isolated." The panic lingering beneath his calm face clawed at his heart.

Then came the message. A cold, whistling sound broke through the static, it seemed it was coming from nowhere. Final orders issued, the other must be eliminated. The announcement echoed in their minds, freezing the air between them. They felt sick inside.

“What did you hear?” Mikhail’s eyes pierced him, searching for any sign that Alex was playing a trick on him.

You know I heard the same thing you did, Alex replied, his heart racing. This is bad matey. We’re supposed to be working together, not separately.

Not what?” Mikhail interrupted sharply. “We cannot ignore orders. This is war, it’s survival.

They both knew they had no choice but to consider their conflicting loyalties. Two nations pulled them tighter than artificial gravity, the pressure mounting with each passing second.

As they drifted through the station, the isolation clawed at the edges of their sanity. Spacesuit malfunction alarms blinked ominously, making Alex jump while he inspected the oxygen systems. They were running low, and fear poured into his thoughts, twisting them into not nice shapes.

What if we never see our families again? Alex murmured, the gravity of the situation weighing heavily on his heart. He was beside himself in his mind thinking about his wife and children. Sisters brothers, and of course his parents.

Mikhail's face paled. “I can’t bear to think about it,” he admitted. Tears filled their eyes as they considered the loved ones they might never see again. They thought about what was happening now to them. The loving images of their families now felt like distant dreams, drowned in a sea of heartbreaking despair.

Suddenly, chilling whispers filled the air, backlit by the cold, glowing instruments. “They are all dead already,” the voices echoed, deep and resonant, sending chills down Alex's spine.

Just who are you? What the hell do you mean? Mikhail gasped.

Half the population on Earth has been consumed by the deadly TW813 virus, the voices continued, resonating with an unsettling familiarity.

The news struck them hard as terrifying images began to flash before their eyes. The people on Earth, burnt to their bones, twisted in agony, their skin ravaged and blackened. This thought alone broke both men.

As the horror continued, they stumbled upon fast-forward images of towering, alien creatures at least sixteen foot tall. The monstrosities moving in groups, hundreds of them scanning the ruined landscape of Earth. They were looking for anything that might still be alive. Alex shut his eyes tightly. The the images of a world reduced to a burnt out nightmare consumed him. The surroundings were filled with a disgusting stench. The smell was more than death, it was the smell of pure evil.

Is this really happening? Mikhail croaked, The horrible panic rising within him. Was humanity to be wiped out?. Had this already happened.

The flashes intensified, showing them other planets in orbit, cast into the sun by some strange magic. They had never, in the worst films they watched, witnessed anything like this. The sight was incomprehensible. They stood at the edge of extinction, knowing they were next to meet their end.

No! Mikhail shouted, his voice cracking. “We can’t let this be it. We have to fight! There has to be a way.

Suddenly, the monstrous shapes slithered into view. So horrifying, grotesque beings with wide mouthed maws dripping with something unseen. The creatures seemed to thrive on their fear, their eyes shimmering with an unearthly hunger, and their voices continued to echo in the minds of both men. Eliminate the other. Consume him for survival. This is what each of them where hearing inside their heads.

Terror surged through Alex. We need to get to the escape pod! he shouted, scrambling for the hatch. Come on mate we have to do this, Now.

Mikhail followed close behind, tears streaming down his face as the whispers grew louder, mingling with the distorted cries of their past. What is happening? he shouted, his voice laced with disbelief. fear and anxiety.

They’re in our heads. We have to focus now, Alex gasped, each step feeling heavy with fear. The air thickened, and before them loomed the blackened forms of the monstrous beings, their jagged teeth glistening in the artificial light. They could not look at them. Each was disgustingly gruesome. This was a sight from a horror film. Both men knew it was real. Their time had come. Time to die, with no way out.

The station rattled as the countdown echoed, amplifying the psychological horror brewing between them. Alex tried to reach for reason, perhaps this was a trick of their minds, spurred by isolation and dread driven by the looming threat of war. Yet, as the creatures closed in, their growls merged with the warnings of their governments, doubt twisted sharply in his gut.

Suddenly, Mikhail’s expression twisted with fear, and he turned on Alex, the madness creeping in. You’re the enemy, You will sacrifice me.

“Stop” Alex screamed, his voice breaking through the veil of madness. “We can’t do this! Can you not see this is what the want.

A blaring alarm cut through the chaos, followed by choking static. They both froze, realizing they had crossed the point of no return; they were rapidly spiraling into a state of madness where trust had become a distant memory.

Through the haze, a truth illuminated the darkness, this was not just about survival, but about humanity itself. As the countdown to their fates reached its climax, a surge of clarity jolted through Alex. We need to work together! There’s still a chance!

Torn between instinct and reason, Mikhail’s expression faltered, glimpsing the humanity they had nearly lost in fear. As both the threat from Earth and their growing confusion culminated, they hesitated at the edge of desperation.

But in the vastness of space, where isolation consumed the soul, would love and unity conquer an impossible choice? Or would they be forever haunted by the echoes of orders aligned against their very existence?

As the clock approached zero and visions of a nuclear threat loomed, they reached for each other, knowing that their only hope lay in defeating the true enemy their own unraveling minds.

Wow. With a start, Alex jolted awake in his own bed, gasping for breath as if he had just surfaced from drowning. His heart raced wildly, pounding in his ears, the remnants of terror still clawing at his throat. He was drenched in a cold sweat, the nightmare lingering like a shadow over his consciousness. He could hear his wife and children chatting playfully in the next room.

As he looked around, the soft morning light filtering through the curtains felt unreal. The familiar sounds of birds chirping outside attempted to soothe him, but nothing could shake the horror that had unfolded in his mind.

It took a moment for his breathing to steady, but slowly, clarity returned. The images of his family came rushing back, his wife, his children, waiting for him to wake up in the lounge, next the memories filled him with warmth. It was just a nightmare, he whispered, disbelief washing over him like a cool wave. Flashes of the grotesque monsters and visions of a devastated Earth flickered through his mind, but the weight of fear began to lift.

Relief bloomed in his chest, yet he still felt a lingering tremor from the terror he had just escaped, even if it was just a nightmare. Tears welled in his eyes, not from fear but from the gratitude of being alive, of having a second chance.

He laught out loud. No more cheese for me before bed, he chuckled softly to himself, wiping his tears away. The thought anchored him a reminder of the simple comforts of life, of warmth and safety, of the love waiting for him in the next room. The here and now.

Perhaps it was a warning, a glimpse of what could be if fear took control. He took a deep breath, the weight of fear lifting further, and resolved to cherish every moment, living for the connections that mattered most.

The world outside awaited him, bright and beautiful, untouched by the chaos he had imagined. Suddenly the bedroom door opened, hey sleepy head his wife smiled. Get ready, let’s take to the road for a day at the beach. The sun is out and we are ready to have some fun. The end.
