I am an ardent lover of horror ever since my childhood, but I always believed these experiences were more an exaggeration rather an actual depiction of the incident. It is true that people who experience will believe and who don't wait for their turn. I was towards the latter until one such thing happened to me and my way of thinking about it changed.
This happened 5 years ago. It was a cold winter night, my brother had to travel by a latenight train to a far off town. I decided to drop him until the station which was 15 kms away from my house. This stretch was lonely and deserted at night and a path less taken especially at night due to the mysterious happenings people encountered on that route. I had travelled on that road during daytime and it was silent and scary during the busy hours of day itself for it remained quite unused by people. It had thick bushes and big trees which made it even spooky to walk that way.
Now coming back to the story, that night my brother wanted to leave early for the station. My cousin who was at my house wanted to join me as I had to return alone after dropping my brother. He asked me to take that lonely road for a thrill ride, I denied saying it was long and unsafe to travel by that road. We reached the station early and got to know that the train was delayed by 20 minutes from the scheduled time. We sat on the platform and talked until the train came, and when the train reached the station we bid a farewell to my brother wishing him luck on his work.
After he departed, we returned to the parking lot and my cousin asked me to take the lonely road this time. I refused initially and finally agreed after he persuaded that everything would be fine. Now that was a bad idea of choosing that route unaware of what was awaiting us.
We started off and this time my cousin was driving and I sat with a sense of fear. Initially a quarter of distance did not bother us, but the wind was growing cold and unbearable. I had vague thoughts running in my mind that even as leaves rustled due to wind, I got scared! It was completely dark and silent only light coming from the scooty headlight. It was so quiet that I could only hear the sound of scooty and nothing else.
As we kept going at a point I saw a white human figure suddenly passing next to our vehicle (like a flash of white disappearing as quick as a blink) and I screamed at that sight. My cousin stopped and I was shivering with fear and asked him if he saw a white figure passing by?! He calmed me and said he did not see anything! May be he was busy driving and did not notice, but I was sure something was wrong and kept thinking why I allowed him to take that road.
My cousin asked me to relax and said that I was sleepy and must be imagining things out of fear. He asked me to close my eyes and hold him tightly until he drove home. I did as he said, held him tightly and closed my eyes. He started driving again and after a minute or so I felt a jolt on the scooty, like something wobbling, I could hear the noise from the scooty and the next second I felt we were skidding off the scooty. I screamed again and we fell on the ground hitting on my back. I saw my cousin shivering with fear as if lightning had struck him making him still, his eyes were wide open and hands trembling! I asked him out of fear what happened?! He uttered a few words pointing at a dark place and he fainted.
My heart sank and I lost my breath for a moment as I saw him fainting. We were all alone on a unknown road and it was dark everywhere! I tried waking him up and tears rolled down my face sobbing for help.
I always kept a bottle of water in my scooty. I quickly took the bottle and dropped water on his face trying to make him awake. After a few seconds he was concious and we both held each other tight.
He told me that as he was driving he experienced something forcefully squeeze through his body like a thunder bolt. I told him that we should leave the place soon and asked him if he was comfortable driving. He said yes and we both got back to the scooty. He drove so fast as if it was his life going to end. And I had no problem as even I was equally terrified and wanted to leave the place soon.
After he drove fast I realized that we were safe as we neared the main road. I could see houses and shops and it was like my heart started pumping back to life. With a sigh of relief I told him to slow down and we stopped near a teashop. I was still gasping for breath as if I came out of choking. I told the vendor about the incident and he asked us why we chose to drive on that road!? He said that a women was mysteriously found dead on that road and people feared to travel there even during the day. Me and my cousin were shocked to hear this and kept looking at each other for what we experienced.
Till today I sweat out of fear when I remember this incident.
