A Tale of Horror

Ananth and her Friends

By Maria AnanthPublished 3 years ago 2 min read

The small town of Vailankanni nestled deep in the southern state of Tamil Nadu was known for its serene beaches and a quaint fishing village. The town's charm had remained undisturbed for decades until Ananth and her friends arrived.

Ananth was a free-spirited girl who had just finished her college education in the bustling city of Chennai. She wanted to spend her summer vacation in a quiet place where she could relax and recharge her batteries before starting her new job in the fall. She convinced her four friends to join her in Vailankanni, promising them a fun-filled holiday that they would never forget.

The group of five arrived in Vailankanni on a hot and humid day. They rented a small cottage by the beach and began exploring the town. They spent their days lounging on the beach, trying the local cuisine, and taking in the sights and sounds of the town.

But as the days went by, strange things began to happen. Ananth and her friends started hearing strange noises in the middle of the night, and they would wake up to find their belongings moved around the room. They tried to ignore it, thinking that it was just their imagination playing tricks on them.

One night, as they were sitting on the beach watching the stars, they saw a figure walking towards them. It was a woman wearing a white saree with her hair tied up in a bun. She looked ethereal and beautiful, but her eyes were empty and soulless. Ananth and her friends were terrified, and they ran back to their cottage.

The next day, they went to a local priest and told him about their experience. The priest listened patiently and then told them the story of a young woman who had drowned in the sea many years ago. The woman had been in love with a fisherman, but he had betrayed her, and she had died of a broken heart. Her spirit now haunted the beach, seeking revenge on all those who crossed her path.

Ananth and her friends were now convinced that they were being haunted by the spirit of the young woman. They tried to leave the town, but they found that they were trapped. Every road they took led them back to their cottage by the beach. The spirit of the young woman was now getting more aggressive, and Ananth and her friends knew that they were running out of time.

They decided to confront the spirit and put an end to her haunting once and for all. They went to the beach and saw the spirit standing at the edge of the water. Ananth stepped forward and spoke to her, telling her that they meant no harm and that they wanted to help her move on to the next world.

The spirit listened to Ananth and then vanished into thin air. Ananth and her friends knew that they had done the right thing, and they could feel a sense of peace and calmness settling over the town.

As they were leaving the town, Ananth turned to her friends and said, "We may have come to Vailankanni for a fun-filled vacation, but we ended up discovering something far more important – the power of love and forgiveness."

And with those words, they left the town, leaving behind a beautiful but haunting memory of their unforgettable summer in Vailankanni.
