"There was only one rule: don't open the door. Are you sure this is what you want? You're smart, consider the options. Finish that book you've been working on."

Your desire to explore beyond the threshold outweighs your conscience. You find yourself in a long dark corridor.

"I know you think you have made up your mind, but you can still turn back."

Your heartbeat quickens, as you creep into the darkness you cannot shake the feeling of being watched.

"Please! Just read everything backwards until you get to the title then go outside, anything else!"

A voice in your head beckons you to turn back, but you ignore it "May as well finish what I started."

"All decisions have consequences; can you live with yours?"

Before you a security console plays other versions of yourself enjoying a quiet night in, learning a new skill, helping a struggling friend in need.

"You could have done anything else, what if you did something useful for once?"

One of the screens is different. Static makes it hard to see. You make out a shadowy figure with a knife heading down the corridor.

"Must you always focus on the negative?"

A bloodied knife lays on the floor besides you, panicked, you pick it up and run back through the corridor.

"Idiot! Get rid of the knife! Do anything else!"

The corridor is long, much longer than you remember.

"STOP!"

You see the shadowy figure before you screaming. Shielding your face, you swing the knife wildly. As it sticks you feel slick blood drip down your sleeve.

As you bleed out you think of your friends, I should have been there. You step over the dead body. On the console, you see yourself before a closed door.

The mic turns red.

Try again.
