Sleep, What is sleep?

We all know what sleep is. Do you know what would happen to a person if he didn't sleep for a long time? According to an experiment a human can live 7-8 days without sleeping, but after so many sleepless nights a person will die . But, today you will learn about a horrific experiment that will leave you shocked. Let's start from the beginning...

So many experiments are conducted on humans that you can't even imagine. Long ago during wartime, to be alert soldiers used to take chemicals that kept them awake. Every country had its chemical for inhibiting sleep, but every chemical had only 2-3 days action time. So, for increasing the action time of chemicals, Russia conducted so many experiments and created a gas that could keep soldiers awake for 30 days.

But before any chemical is implemented for the public it's tested on some human test subjects. To find these test subjects was not a difficult task. The people who were in jails were easily available for this horrific test. Russian police selected 5 prisoners by giving them a promise. They promised them that the police will let you free if you stay awake for 30 days. They agreed for this not knowing that they were being laid. So, a lab was formulated where these 5 test subjects were placed.

Day 1:

All the 5 test subjects were happy as they were thinking that this is not a difficult task to be awake for 30 days. They thought the gas that is in their room will help them. When the gas was released in their room on Day 1, all of them were happy and healthy. They were alert.

Day 3:

The test subjects were still alert and healthy. Watching the response from the last 3 days of the test, researchers were happy that they have finally got a chemical which will out beat other nations. But from Day 4 the horrific dark things started to happen.

Day 4:

It's the fourth day of the experiment. Suddenly, all the 5 test subjects started to talk about dark things; horrific war moments of life and traumas of life. These all things started to come into their minds. A microphone was also placed in their room, so researchers could also listen to what they talk. Through this microphone researchers hear all these things. For the whole day the test subjects talked about dark things.

Day 5:

Fifth day was even worse. In the morning of the 5th day, the test subjects started to talk in some other language. And it felt like they understood each other and started to do dark things. The symptoms of psychosis were visible in them, they talked to themselves.

Day 9:

Something happened on day 9 that broke all the limits of horror. On day 9, suddenly one of the test subjects started to scream. He cried as loud as he could. He cried so loud that his vocal cord fractured. Then he suddenly sleeps. When that test subject slept other four test subjects came near to the microphone and started to whisper. The researchers thought it was due to gas or because of not sleeping for so many days. No one was sure why it was happening? Researchers thought due to lack of sleep people can go nuts, but they can't go so mad that they fracture their vocal cord by crying so loudly. They thought this was due to the gas that they have put in the room. After that what happens is more mysterious.

Day 10:

Suddenly, there was silence in the room. No one knew they were even alive. But the oxygen meter that was placed outside the lab was fluctuating, which depicted that all of the 5 test subjects were alive. But, why were they so silent after day 9. They thought if the oxygen dumpster is fluctuating, then why aren't they responding. Now researchers had no choice. But they were not willing to abandon the experiment in the mid way. They decided that they would open the chamber and they announced through a microphone that "See we are going to open the gate and you all sit on your knees. If we find anyone standing or running toward us, we will shoot him. And if you comply with us, we will set any one of you free immediately" Then out of complete silence the test subjects replied that "We don't want to get free". What it meant? Were they mad or were they addicted to that gas? To test the same thing, before opening the door of the lab, researchers vacated all the gas from the room. They let the fresh air in the room. Suddenly, as the gas got out of the room, all the test subjects started to cry and scream loudly. They wanted the gas. Finally, researchers opened the door of the lab on Day 15.

Day 15:

After opening the door you know what they saw? They saw a decomposed body on the floor with organs out of his body. The Remaining 4 test subjects were alive. But when the researchers saw them, the scene was even more horrific. Because they saw that the rest 4 test subjects were eating their own body organs. The food was already placed in the chamber for 30 days. They ate the food for the first days, but for the rest of the day's food was as it was before. The most horrific thing was that they were eating the organs of dead test subject also. And they were doing all this happily as if they were supposed to do this. Researchers were not willing to go near them so a backup team was made. Soldiers were called for help. As soon as soldiers steeped in that room the test subjects attacked them and on that day 5 soldiers lost their lives. Finally, all the 4 test subjects fell on the floor and researchers quickly injected morphine in their blood to keep them silent. But, there was no effect of morphine on them. All they wanted was that gas. More soldiers were brought and during the fight between soldiers and test subjects, suddenly one of the test subjects felt unconscious and his heartbeat stopped. The horrific thing was that at the time of his death, his last words were 'I need gas'. Then somehow other 3 test subjects were admitted to hospital for aid. One of these 3 tests screamed in hospital all of the sudden and then kept quiet. Then a nurse came for stitching his wounds and the test subject gave her a horrific smile and was trying to say something. The nurse gave him a pen and paper and the test subject wrote 'Keep Cutting'. The test subject was like being cut. This was all due to that gas, which researchers had produced. One of the test subjects was crying all the time 'I want that gas, it's good stuff'. Then a doctor asks him why you want that gas? The test subject replied 'Because it keeps me awake'.

So researchers thought if they want gas, let us give it to them. All the three test subjects were kept again in that lab with gas. Then suddenly 2 of the test subjects died because of an increase in brain activity. Finally, there is only one test subject alive. After that a doctor who was frustrated because of all this stuff took his gun and pointed it towards the last test subject and told "You are the last one out of 5 test subjects, tell me everything truth. If you didn't, I'll shoot you. Tell me who are you? What is inside you? What gas has you? What do you want? " The last test subject replied with a dark smile that "Did you just forget who I am? I'm you and you are me. I'm your shadow. I'm what you fell at night. I'm in your mind" Then the doctor shoots him in his chest and kills him. This is the end of this dreadful story.

Coda:

We humans kill humans to save humans. Where is our humanity? In future, whosoever is going to read this story, I request them that whatsoever they will be in their lives never do such things which will shame humanity. I don't say that this story is true or false, but this story gives us many lessons to learn. Serve the society, but don't harm anyone for your cause.
