A Christmas horror story
Greek mythology (Kallikantzaroi)

"AH" the child screamed.
Something was in the attic. Something was walking around up there. Either way, he resisted trying to take his head out of the covers out of curiosity. He didn't want to find out what was out there. He always saw kids getting up to investigate the sound, but they never came back. Those kids went missing. Those kids were stupid. He was planning on going to college, he did not want to die tonight. Soon it will be past 3am. Soon he will go to sleep.
No. Wait. What was that sound? Did something just open his door? Was it dad? Or mom? Maybe they were coming to check on him. So silent. The silence and curiosity were overwhelming. He wasn't getting up though. Nope. A floor creak by his bed. No. He wasn't going down like this. A dark figure stood over him. He could feel a presence. He didn't want it to end like this. Not yet. It was Christmas Eve. Why now? A hand quickly pulled the cover off of his head. The boy screamed the loudest he could. Until he heard a familiar voice.
"Kid, what are you doing?" It was his dad. Heavily breathing, the boy put his head on the pillow and closed his eyes.
"Goodnight tiny one." The father said.
'Tiny one'? His dad had never called him that. An eerie feeling told him that wasn't his father. The imposter stopped at the door.
"Tiny one, what is that smell you have coming from under your bed?"
Oh no. His container full of sweets was under his bed.
"Nothing Father. Goodnight."
The imposter turned around. The boy screamed. This was not his father! The creature had the body of his father, but the face of a monster. Their eyes were cat-like, yellow replacing the white. The nose was short and stubby, the mouth. Oh the mouth. The mouth had a long tongue hanging out of it. The tongue seemed as if it was alive because it kept moving.
"WHERE IS IT!?!" It said as it dove under the bed.
Scrambling, it pulled the container out in excitement.
But it didn't look the same. Now it looked like the goblins in the books he read. It was short and ugly. It looked at the boy once again.
"I don't like things keeping me from my sweets boy."
Launching his tongue at the boy in the fastest motion he could. With no time to escape, the boy screamed as the pain on his face made him burst into tears. It felt like his whole face was burning. Scratching didn't make it any better. The boy's face swelled with blisters as it seemed to be melting on it's own. The monster, pleased with his hunt, walked away and left the boy to perish slowly and painfully.
The next morning, the cops arrived because of the neighbors noise complaints. Inside, they found something so disturbing, most of them refused to go inside. When walking in, they found a ton of mess, like a party had happened. But that party went wrong, very wrong. The perfectly white walls were now smeared with blood, the floors had a trail of food. The stench, it smelled like rotten food mixed with something else nasty. Furniture appeared sideways as they walked through the house, like clumsy people knocked them over. After heading upstairs, they found a woman, crying in a corner. Let's not go into details about that. Then the boy's room. It seemed as if his head had exploded, literally. It was an awful sight. Under the bed, a man's skin who they believed to be his father, looked lifeless. Someone had worn the skin or something. But what was branded over everyone's bodies? Kallikantzaroi.
