Eek! It would seem that a recent marketing faux-pas has inadvertently revealed the identity of Overwatch’s next playable hero.

During Blizzards latest international marketing campaign aimed at teasing the identity of the upcoming hero 27. Overwatch Japan dropped the ball and tweeted the wrong tweet at the wrong time.

Over the past few days, Blizzard have been teasing the imminent drop of their latest playable hero (hero 27). Using Twitter as their primary launch pad for the campaign.

Speculation and analysis of the tweets so far have led us all to believe that the new playable character would most likely be Brigitte, the daughter of Torbjörn. But with no real evidence outside of what we can deduce from the tweets, no one was really 100% sure, until now.

Last night, the third tweet was published by Blizzard. Each official region posted the same tweet, at the same time. A blueprint of a transforming pick-hammer, with the supporting statement, “I'll knock some sense into you!”. This further implied that Brigitte would, indeed, be hero 27.

All except Japan. Overwatch Japan tweeted something totally different. It was of course, speedily deleted, but not before it has been screenshotted and shared with the world.

Pretty damning evidence there. With this latest reveal from Japan, it is looking like Brigitte will definitely be the next playable hero in Overwatch.

Or, is this just great marketing? A false leak can often stir a greater degree of hype than any other promo method.
