In a market overflowing with smartphones claiming to deliver premium performance at a budget price, Vivo’s T4x 5G confidently steps in as a serious contender. Launched in March 2025, this device promises a blend of performance, power efficiency, and durability, all packed in a sleek design. After spending a week with the Vivo T4x 5G, here’s our in-depth review of what this phone does right—and where it could do better.

Design & Display: Functional Yet Familiar

The Vivo T4x 5G doesn’t try to reinvent the wheel in terms of design, but what it delivers is clean, minimal, and comfortable. Available in two colors—Pronto Purple and Marine Blue—the phone features a slightly reflective matte finish that resists fingerprints surprisingly well. It’s MIL-STD-810H certified, which is rare at this price point, making it a sturdy companion for daily use.

The front is dominated by a 6.72-inch IPS LCD display, which supports Full HD+ resolution and a buttery smooth 120Hz refresh rate. It gets decently bright with a peak brightness of 1050 nits, which means outdoor readability isn’t an issue, even under direct sunlight. While it's not an AMOLED panel, the color reproduction and contrast are respectable, making media consumption enjoyable.

Performance: Surprisingly Zippy

Under the hood, the Vivo T4x 5G is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7300, a 4nm processor that offers excellent performance efficiency. This chipset isn’t just power-friendly—it’s also snappy. During our time with the phone, everything from multitasking and app-switching to light gaming felt fluid. Paired with 6GB or 8GB of RAM and UFS 3.1 storage, the phone performs admirably in day-to-day tasks.

In synthetic benchmarks, the T4x 5G held its own, scoring comparable to or even surpassing some Snapdragon 6 Gen 1-powered phones. While this isn’t a flagship chip, it’s more than capable for most users, especially considering the pricing.

Software: Funtouch OS Gets It Mostly Right

The phone runs Android 15 out of the box, skinned with Funtouch OS 15. While Funtouch OS has often been criticized for bloatware and clutter, Vivo seems to have toned things down a bit. There are still a few pre-installed apps, but most can be uninstalled or disabled.

In terms of usability, the interface feels smooth, animations are fluid, and customization options are abundant. Features like app cloning, dynamic theming, and smart gestures enhance the overall experience.

Camera: Decent Clicks, But Don’t Expect Miracles

The Vivo T4x 5G sports a dual rear camera setup—a 50MP main sensor and a 2MP depth sensor. On paper, this might seem modest, but in practice, it does a decent job. In well-lit environments, the camera delivers sharp, detailed photos with accurate colors. The AI scene recognition adjusts settings fairly intelligently for landscapes, food, and portraits.

However, low-light performance is where the limitations begin to show. Despite some post-processing magic, images tend to be soft and noisy in darker environments. The absence of an ultra-wide or macro lens is also a downside for photography enthusiasts.

The 8MP front camera is sufficient for selfies and video calls, although skin tones sometimes appear a bit too smooth, likely due to aggressive beauty filters (which thankfully can be turned off).

Battery Life: A Marathon Runner

One of the T4x 5G’s strongest suits is its 6500mAh battery. This phone easily delivers two full days of moderate usage, including streaming, social media, browsing, and occasional gaming. Heavy users can still expect over a full day without any battery anxiety.

Complementing the massive battery is 44W fast charging, which charges the phone from 0 to 50% in about 35 minutes. While it’s not the fastest in the segment, it’s certainly respectable considering the capacity involved.

Connectivity & Extras

As the name suggests, the T4x supports 5G, with dual SIM functionality. Call quality is excellent, and 5G reception in supported areas was stable. Other connectivity options like dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.3, and a USB-C port are all onboard.

One thing to note is the absence of a microSD card slot. Vivo offers generous internal storage options (up to 256GB), but those who like expandable storage may be disappointed. Also, there's no stereo speaker setup—just a single bottom-firing speaker, which is loud but not very immersive.

Pricing & Verdict

Here’s the current pricing in India (as of April 2025):

  • 6GB + 128GB: ₹13,999
  • 8GB + 128GB: ₹14,999
  • 8GB + 256GB: ₹16,999

For the price, the Vivo T4x 5G offers tremendous value. It gets the basics right—great battery, solid performance, a high-refresh-rate display, and modern software. While the cameras and speaker setup leave room for improvement, they’re hardly deal-breakers at this price point.

Final Thoughts: Should You Buy It?

If you’re on the hunt for a reliable daily driver under ₹17,000, the Vivo T4x 5G is a fantastic choice. It excels in areas that matter most to budget-conscious users—battery life, performance, and display. Whether you’re a student, a working professional, or just someone who needs a no-nonsense 5G phone, this device deserves a spot on your shortlist.
