My 2025 Visit to Casino NB: The Real Story Behind the Glitz

First Impressions and Arrival

Location and Parking

On January 5, 2025, I visited Casino NB in Moncton. Getting there was easy — it's located right off the Trans-Canada Highway. The parking lot was spacious and free, which was a good start. However, snow removal was barely done. I had to step into a slushy puddle just to get to the entrance, which immediately set the tone for what turned out to be a hit-and-miss experience.

First Look Inside the Casino

The casino lobby gave me mixed feelings. It was clean and warm, but the decor felt dated — more 2010 than 2025. The lighting was dim, not in a luxurious way but in a “we’re saving on the electric bill” kind of way. Security at the entrance was quick and polite, though, and checking ID was done without hassle.

Gambling Floor and Games

Slot Machines Variety

There are over 600 slot machines on the gaming floor. The variety was decent — from modern video slots to classic reels. Some machines were out of order, and I noticed a couple with screens that glitched. That said, I did find a few newer games, like Wheel of Fortune 4D, which made the time pass quickly.

Table Games and Poker Room

Casino New Brunswick has around 26 table games. I played blackjack and roulette. Dealers were professional, but some tables lacked energy — maybe due to the post-holiday lull. The poker room was closed, with no explanation posted. A staff member mentioned it’s only open on weekends, which wasn’t clear anywhere on the website.

Staff and Atmosphere

Staff were polite but disengaged. I didn’t get the feeling anyone was excited to be there — not players, not employees. A few dealers seemed more focused on chatting with each other than running the table. The general atmosphere was pretty flat for a Moncton casino that claims to be a top destination.

Hotel and Amenities

Room Conditions and Cleanliness

I booked one night at the Casino NB hotel, and honestly, the room was decent. Clean bed, quiet hallways, and a nice city view. However, the furniture felt a little worn. The armchair had a tear in the fabric, and one of the lamps didn’t work. Not a deal-breaker, but far from four-star quality.

Pool, Spa, and Fitness Area

The spa was closed “for renovations,” but again, no prior notice online. The pool was open and fairly empty, which was a plus, and the water was warm. The fitness room was minimal — a few cardio machines and dumbbells, but it did the job.

Food and Drink

Restaurants and Bar Quality

There are two main options at Casino New Brunswick: the Hub City Pub and a buffet. I tried the pub. The food was okay — nothing spectacular, nothing terrible. The burger was lukewarm, but the fries were crispy. The cocktail I ordered was surprisingly strong, which helped.

Prices and Service Speed

Prices were what you’d expect from a New Brunswick gambling venue: slightly overpriced. A burger and drink cost me just over $30. Service was slow; it took 25 minutes to get food in a half-empty restaurant. Not a great look.

Entertainment and Events

Venue Overview

The Molson Canadian Centre inside Casino NB can hold about 1800 people. It’s a good-sized space with decent acoustics. Unfortunately, there was no show the night I visited, and the calendar didn’t show much for January.

Upcoming Shows or Lack of Them

The entertainment schedule was light. Most upcoming events seemed to be tribute bands or comedy nights. For a place trying to be a destination for entertainment in Moncton, it felt underwhelming. I would’ve expected a bigger variety — especially in the winter season when indoor activities matter more.

What I Liked vs. What I Didn't

What I Liked:

• Spacious gaming floor with a decent slot machine selection

• Clean and quiet hotel room

• Free parking

What I Didn’t Like:

• Poor maintenance in parts of the casino and hotel

• Disengaged staff and low energy on the floor

• Limited food quality and slow service

Is Casino NB Worth Visiting in 2025?

If you’re in Moncton and looking for something to do indoors, Casino NB offers a passable experience. Just don’t go in expecting Las Vegas. The Casino NB hotel is functional but not luxurious. Gambling is fine, not thrilling. Food is mediocre. Entertainment is lacking. In short: this is a New Brunswick gambling spot that’s either in transition or stagnating.

If you live nearby, it’s worth a night out. If you’re traveling from another part of Canada just for this — I wouldn’t recommend it. There’s potential here, but right now, it feels like the management is coasting.
