U4GM Diablo 4: Items System Overhaul and New Unique Items
Blizzard is reworking Diablo 4’s item upgrade systems to make gear crafting more rewarding and personal, while each class receives a new unique item with fresh effects in the upcoming season.

Tempering and Masterworking Overhaul
Blizzard has announced a major revamp of the item progression system in Diablo IV. Based on feedback from the player community, the developers have redesigned the core equipment enhancement experience across different difficulty stages Diablo 4 gold. The new system aims to make item progression more direct, controllable, and rewarding.
Developer Notes: We have refocused the core purposes of "Tempering" and "Masterworking": Customization and a sense of Prestige. Players can now precisely acquire desired Tempered Affixes, while the Masterworking system provides a clearer, more predictable reinforcement path leading to perfect gear.
1. Tempering
- You can now freely choose specific affixes to add from Tempering recipes.
- Items can now have only one Tempered Affix.
- Tempering Charges are infinitely rechargeable and no longer limited.
2. Masterworking
- Masterworking no longer increases affix values but improves the item's quality.
- Quality upgrades directly boost base damage, armor, or resistances.
- Each item can be Masterworked up to a maximum quality level of 20.
- Each Masterworking increases quality randomly by 2 to 5 levels.
- Upon reaching the maximum quality, you can perform a Capstone Bonus.
3. Capstone Bonus
- Upgrades one regular (non-Greater) affix on your item to a Greater Affix.
- You can choose to reforge the Greater Affix generated by Masterworking.
- Reforging does not reset the quality level. However, it consumes rare materials Obducite and Neathiron.
4. Other Changes
- The base number of affixes on Non-Unique items has been increased from 3 to 4.
