TRAVELING THROUGH ASSASSINS CREED III

Assassins Creed III

By Entertainment Nerd NewsPublished 5 years ago 5 min read

I know this is going to be different. For all gamers who have gotten used to traveling through and experiencing the past with Ezio and Altaïr. Don’t you worry though. The developers know how to make things all better. This game sure does throw twists and turns all over the place. By the end not only are well going to have some heartbreak going on. We will also have the need for more.

Picking up where everything previously left off in Assassin’s Creed: Revelations. Desmond along with his team find the Grand Temple of the First Civilization. Accessing it by using their Apple of Eden. Once the temple is partially awakened Juno uses it to communicate with Desmond. This should be tense. As Juno is the one who made Desmond not only Kill Lucy but go into a coma. That he just recently came out of.

Anyways, Desmond goes into the Animus and with Juno’s influence he is tapped into Haytham Kenway. Our new timeline is in England 1754.

Already on to a target Haytham assassinates a patron at the Royal Opera House. He also steals a medallion. A key to a Temple’s inner chamber. He’s then sent to the American Colonies to find the Temple. While he is in Boston he kills a slave trader. Doing so he frees a group of Mohawks. Including a woman named Kaniehtí:io.

Don’t worry everyone. She tells him to just refer to her as Zilo after he tries and fails to pronounce her name. She agrees to help him find the Temple. However, he must kill General Braddock. Not long after they figure out the key doesn’t open the temple itself. Which just means another search will be underway.

During their time together they develop a romantic relationship. Resulting in the birth of their son. Haytham is then seen inducting a new member. Not what everyone expected to see though. Because he was not inducting Charles Lee into the Assassin’s Order. He is instead being inducted to the Templar Order.

That’s right! The beginning of this game everything was done for the Templars. After playing as an Assassin for so long, we are shown the other side of everything. Thrown for a loop is probably not even the best phrase to explain how gamers felt. Especially if no trailers or research was done about the game’s release. Going in blind would’ve been very shocking to say the least.

Everything is getting ready to move at a more rapid pace. We switch to Ratonhnhaké:ton’s point of view in his childhood in 1760. He loses his mother during an attack on his village. Ratonhnhaké:ton believes it was led by Charles Lee. Years later he’s informed by the Elder during his teenage years that they must protect the discovery of the Temple.

Giving him a sphere in which Juno speaks to him through. She explains to him of his importance. Then she shows him the symbol of the Assassin’s. This leads him traveling to find the retired Assassin Achilles Davenport. His Brotherhood had collapsed years prior. He reluctantly agrees to teach Ratonhnhaké:ton the ways of the Assassin’s and begins to train him.

Achilles suggests that maybe he should change his name to Connor. That it would make it easier to travel throughout the colonies. Also due to the fear that the colonists would reject him as a tribe member. Unfortunately he is framed by the Templars while in Boston for instigating the Boston Massacre.

Fast forwarding throughout the years Connor kills numerous Templars. He also aids in the Revolutionary War between the Patriots and the British. He also happens to come across his father. Who he ends up making a temporary alliance with. All in order to take down a rogue Templar. While things may be all good between them at the moment. It doesn’t last long.

Haytham finds out that Washintgton has a plan to take the lands of many indigenous people. Including Connor’s home land as well. Furthermore, Washintong was behind the death of his mother and the attack on their lands. Taking place during the Seven Years War. This upsets Connor completely in which he breaks ties with both Washington and his father.

Returning to his village, Connor finds out that Charles Lee has recruited several Mohawk Warriors. They were to turn back the Patriots sent back to kill them. Neutralizing them to avoid any conflict he is left with one thing he wouldn’t have dreamed of. A fight against his childhood friend who can’t be reasoned with. He is forced to kill him in the end.

During all this Desmond has come in and out of the Animus. Having to retrieve numerous power cells from all over the world. In a race against the clock so a modern day Templar cannot get them, Daniel Cross. His father goes on his own to retrieve the final cell needed. He’s captured by the Templars and taken to Abstergo in Italy. Traveling to Italy Desmond attacks them and kills not only Cross but Vidic as well and rescues his father.

Back to Connor he’s conflicted. He wants to work with his father in order to bring peace to both sides. However, Hatham believes that replacing Washington with Lee will solve all the issues. Washington disgraces Lee due to an attempt to sabotage the outcome of the Battle of Monmouth. Lee takes refuge in a heavily fortified Fort George.

That doesn’t stop an Assassin. They are trained for this. Connor infiltrates the fort and is confronted by his father. They fight and Connor ends up killing him. He also kills Lee and recovers the Key. With them conquered and traveling once again returns to his village. Upon arrival he sees that it’s abandoned. Only thing left behind was the Sphere. Juno appears and tells him to hide the Key. Which he buries in the grave of Achilles son Connor’s grave.

Back to Desmond, he retrieves the Key and finally accesses the Temple’s inner chambers. The craziness of all the traveling has now come full circle. Juno appears and informs him that activating the pedestal will save the world. At the cost of his life though. Minerva appears before them and tells them that it’s not true. It will release Juno who was sealed away in the temple to prevent her from conquering humanity.

Juno and Minerva explain that if he doesn’t he will be one of the few survivors in the post-apocalyptic world. He will become a mentor to the others. Later after his death he will be seen as a God. Rewriting the religious cycle and starting a religious conflict throughout the world. All due to the manipulation in order to control future generations.

He decides to activate the pedestal in order to save humanity. Giving them the chance to fight Juno versus everyone being destroyed. William, Shaun, and Rebecca leave the temple just as he activates the pedestal. An Aurora shields the planet from the Solar Flare saving it from erupting. Juno then commends Desmond for his choice and declares it’s time for her part to begin. Traveling a whole new path with someone else?

In the epilogue we see Connor taking down the Templar portraits in the Manor’s basement. Burning them to signify the end of that journey. He later returns to his village and learns that it was sold to settlers in order to pay off war debts to the United States. Traveling to the pier in New York Connor witnesses the last of the British Regulars leave America. However, he also sees evidence of slave trade present within the newly formed nation.

All of this right next to cheering people due to the British departures. He learns a valuable lesson learning that not all people have been freed.
