The Future of Gaming
Some ideas for where gaming might be headed

Welcome readers. Today I will be talking about the future of gaming and where I think its going. Now I’ve been a gamer for most of my life. I’m currently 24 years old and I have been playing video games since I was about 5 or 6, as I’m sure a lot of other people have as well.
Throughout the years, we have all seen some crazy advances in technology that allow the gaming experience to be taken to the next level, most recently, Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality (referred to as VR and AR respectively from here on out).
Let’s start with VR. It took the gaming world by storm. Allowing for an experience a lot of, if not all, gamers have wanted to experience: the so called “hands on experience” where they are playing the soldier, or the fighter in the games. Who doesn’t love actually looking through a sniper scope and taking a guy out across the map? Granted the technology isn’t yet perfected, it is only a matter of time before we get that seamless, smooth experience everyone is looking for.
Now let’s talk about AR. A concept that has only recently been introduced, one of the more famous forms being Pokémon GO. And that is just the beginning. People are always looking for something bigger and better and let’s be real, we’re not very far off already. I mean, who would have thought that there would be a time where we could catch Pokémon from our mobile phones in the environment around us nonetheless.
Mobile gaming is another big industry now. With PUBG, Fortnite and COD, to name a few, available on your phone, it is possible that the future of gaming could change towards a smaller scale device like a mobile phone, since it is a lot cheaper than spending money on a good computer or a new console and developers want to make money. If the market is better with mobile phones, or anything new that may come up in the future, they could very well decide to shimmy towards that side of gaming.
With that being said, there will always be the developers that will cater to everyone, whether it is PC, console, mobile etc. The only question is, how are they going to make it better? Personally, I think VR and AR will play an even bigger role in the gaming industry because it is a step in the right direction, and with constant feedback from users, it can only get better.
