With the Sims 4 Life and Death just ten days away, there are still several things that we don't know we can do in the expansion pack. While the reveal trailer and the blog post told us a lot about what we could do, there is still a lot to wonder about. First, let's go over what we can do and what we can expect with this expansion pack.
So far, we know that we will be able to create cemeteries as well as have a new event called funerals. I believe they have lot trait for funeral homes, so you won't have to worry about random simmers just waltzing to the funeral. These are already very exciting and would have sold me on the pack, but we have more. We are getting three traits: the Macabre, Skeptic, and Chased by Death. We are also getting a new Aspiration, the Ghost Historian Aspiration, where you can unlock traits and even unlock writing horror novels.
We are also getting two careers, a live career, and a regular career. The live one is a Grim Reaper, where you can become a Grim Reaper and work under the Grim Reaper himself as one of his Grimterns. The next one is the Undertaker career, which allows for two paths. Funeral Director and Mortician. Both of these sound very exciting. Other than those, there are also two known new death types: murder by crows and dying in your sleep, which was shown in the trailer.
On top of these, we also know that ghosts are getting a huge update with a skill tree, and you can be reborn. From new woo-hoo as a ghost, returning NPCs like Nervous Subject and Olive, to creating a bucket list catered to your sims and creating a detailed will, there will be so much in this pack that we can look forward to, but there are still some questions that have not been answered.
1. Will pets be allowed to have funerals?
Personally, I love my pets, and when my old pets died, I held a mini funeral for them. Many people have funerals for their dog, cat, etc, and with pets being able to die in the Sims 4, that raises the question. Will we be able to hold little funerals for cats, dogs, and horses? Will they get their own tombstones? Can we make a pet cemetery? There is a lot to wonder about.
2. In the will, will we be able to hand off property to other sims when they die?
This is another big question. Sims are able to have their own businesses including restaurants, Vet officers, stores, and more. Sims are also able to be landlords if you have the For Rent Expansion pack. Yet, so far, it is unclear if you will be able to set who gets your assets in the will when the sims die. That is something we will have to figure out.
3. Can you be invited to a funeral?
In the welcome wagon, you tend to meet many different sims in the neighborhood. Many of them tend to be couples. When one of them dies, and your sim that knew them they gets a sad moodlet from losing a friend. Will you get an invite from someone in their family for the funeral like we do for dates, hanging out, or when a sim wants to go to one of the festivals? This would be an interesting feature.
4. Will certain traits be able to affect gameplay?
What do I mean? Besides the three that are coming with the pack, let's say you have an evil sim. Would that evil sim be able to change the will of a sim in their family if they got their hands on it? Or what about a family-oriented sim who gets a buff after setting that their children or family gets their simoleons? One of the things I like to see in a pack is this kind of thought, and seeing traits actually be able to affect aspects of gameplay would be interesting.
5. Will Sims be able to use the tarot cards?
As we saw in the trailer, a sim wielded tarot cards and read them to the main protagonist and their father. Will Sims be able to make a living using tarot cards? Can our sims use them? It's all very interesting.
As you can probably tell, I am very excited about this pack and what it'll hold. Right now, The Sims 4 is looking great to a lot of people. Between the Grim Reaper's rewards and the expansion pack coming out soon, there is a lot to prepare for. There is also a huge update that will come on October 22nd for simmers that will introduce new things. We have only scratched the surface of what this pack has to offer, and so far, many simmers are saying it looks like one of the best. When October 31st comes, we will see if this pack lives up to its hype, and hopefully, some of the questions will be answered, too.
