Sims 4 is basically over, so what's next?

Dreaming of what's next

So if you don't know by now EA has been sold to Jared Kushner, who sold the game to someone else?

Last I heard there were other buyers from different countries, but now the "lead buyer" is from Saudia Arabia, the other buyer is a U.S investment firm called Silver Lake, and another called Affinity Partners. Since Saudia Arabia owns most of EA currently, simmers are scared, others are quitting. You can look up why and come back or just keep reading, it's not that important here.

As I said,

TS4 [The Sims 4] Simmers chose to leave the community, others decided to return to previous games like Sims Life Stories, Sims 2, & Sims 3. Many from what I've noticed still play, though.

TS4 Custom Content [CC] Creators keep releasing gorgeous content that makes simmers want to stay. I could even argue TS4's Youtubers and CC creators are EA's accomplices at this point.

We're all watching, waiting to see what the next move of the TS4 Custom Content creators will be. Why?

The Sims 4 has been a dead game for years but the only thing keeping it alive has been Modders, CC creators, (and youtubers) they fix the game's bugs and add game changing new content, they're always pushing out incredible stuff, so if we see CC creators still releasing gorgeous mouth-watering furniture we saw off pinterest, architectural digest and conversions from other video games- then, yeah, we're going to lose our minds and fold.

When I realized the Sims 4 was officially dying, dying, I only had one deep regret.

It was that most of the Sims 4 Community's CC creators didn't have blender files of their work readily available.

For those of you who don't know blender is a 3D computer graphics software that allows you to create a plethora of 3D art and even 2D art. You can create characters, set up rooms, and build worlds, once you're familiar with the softwares.

With blender you don't have to make everything yourself, you can download free assets that others have created. So that's what I mean. You could use some of the things to create stuff in blender.

So imagine if TS4 creators started releasing their stuff for blender instead?

Cause think about it, their work is gonna go to so much waste. I don't know if that's why they haven't given up on releasing content for Sims 4 yet, because if this is about income, they still have options, and it's to start making game assets.

[Edit: Jan 8, 2026] I've been browsing around. I noticed that Alpha TS4 creators do this, I knew some creators did this but I'm starting to notice it's more common among Alpha creators. So if anyone's interested, there you go. If you'd like I can make a list of creators who do this so message me if you're interested.

Moving on.

The following are my personal wishes.

1. Dear Someone,

Please create a 3D and 2D Asset creation/ game world building software with similar features to the Sims 4 CAS, B&B, blender's line art tool, that can trace over 3D stuff, create floorplans etc for concept art and game design documentation, and illustration softwares like Adobe Photoshop, GIMP, etc to add special details. Users will be able to customize character sprites, build rooms and worlds using pre-made assets available to users via the software's online store. Creators will release their content with an affiliated account and receive bi-weekly or monthly after collective purchases, as well as royalties depending on their degree of involvement. Users may export the game assets to their game once finished to a game engine of their choice.

Regading copywriting, creators will be operating under a free for commercial use rule and will be credited. Commissions can also be made to them.

The software will also automatically generate a list of assets, crediting its creators, and project collaborators upon exportation, to help the users keep track of theit list of assets.

In the Sims Community there are different types of simmers.

  • Players who only create sims.
  • Players who only build buildings.
  • Players who only do interior design.
  • Players who use nothing but cheats.
  • Players who story tell.
  • Players who actually play the game.

The list goes on and on.

All this should tell you one thing and it's that Sims 4 is a game that's incredibly time consuming. Simmers often end up burning through hours just to do the smallest of things. We're constantly editing.

So please understand why I would lose interest in playing the game and be more interested in wanting to use the builds and characters I create for more productive things.

I want to develop games, but I'm a writer, I have my limits. There are many things I have to learn and I often get overwhelmed because I want to focus on writing, another time consuming process. There's not enough time in a day to do all of that. So it would be helpful if there was a tool that's not AI that could help us create what we envision, and that's making a software like the Sims 4 but better, instead of Create-A-Sim- we have Create-A-Sprite, Build & Buy Mode, Create a world, camera shots and video editing and recording features, this time with a special focus given to scene building and screenwriting, incorporating the different kind of camera shots, props, its functions & game effects, etc A software that can help you keep track of game documentation and logic. Something that has multiple uses like a script writing tool that can help you create scripts for films, screen-writing, games, comics. Something that can help you keep track of your assets and its creators, so you can credit them all accurately. Something where you can collaborate on with different artists, animators, web developers, screen writers, sound engineers, programmers, you name it!'

The Sims community is proof that normal people are all capable of developing stories, game worlds and characters if given the right tools to help them execute their vision. So someone, please! Please create the tools to help us effectively and time consumingly do so.

(Sims 4 is time consuming, but I imagine building everything from scratch or using assets softwares like blender, maya, sketchup, photoshop etc, is way more time consuming. I want to be able to show up to a programmer/game engineer, sound engineers, UI & UX designers with everything I already need to save on costs

Wish #2.

2. Dear Someone,

Please create a simslit website where simmers can publish their stories, comics, and videos, and get monetarily rewarded for views.

Many simmers write stories but they tend to use personal blogs so it can become a tedious task trying to keep track of them all, especially if they don't use wordpress or tumblr. However, if they're all on the same website, then you can easily find them all, subscribe & donate to them, they can get rewarded for their creativity. Everyone wins.
