Once Human

Here's another game for everyone to try! It's a multiplayer open-world survival game. I have high hopes for the success of this game for having relation to another game I played, Identity V. The game has little Hastur (for the IDV fans out there!)

Once Human: Release Date

Once Human was recently released last July 10, 2024 on Steam. This game actually came to me as a surprise. Unlike Wuthering Waves that I have been looking forward to, I haven't heard of Once Human until it was released.

Something New

It's a game that's mostly new to me. Survival games have not been my forte. I guess, funny enough, my lack of survival skills in real life manifests in games.

But let me tell you that there are plenty of useful things to help you when you want to try something new.

OhDough has a unique way of showing the ropes to you. You have to watch him to see for yourself. And of course you can also use a map to find everything you need.

The Community

People have a certain view on Reddit. But honestly? I beg to differ. I still find the community helpful when there is something specific you want to find.

You may even see incredible things they build in the game. Like this boat for example. Tell me how much dedication do they have to pull something like this!

The World

The game starts with this: When humans are becoming... less human. You will meet the lovely Mitsuko. And she will tell you her experience and how she was experimented on until she thinks she is no longer human, an interesting story.

The game has one of the best tutorials for me to get ready and survive in its world. You don't have to worry about what you need to craft first. The game will help you, including V, a very handy little bird friend.

It was very fun for me to farm for my materials. Oh to finally get good pants in this game! What satisfaction! You need to kill those poor deer. Slay some deer to slay I guess (lol).

Enemies

In this survival game, there are enemies. Some are easy enough to defeat with your eyes closed and others that will make you run as fast as you can. I have a motorbike but I rely more on my feet. It's easier to maneuver for me. So, I must tell you. Be careful out there.

An interesting thing in this game is this monster bus. It's not exactly an enemy but you can ride it and take the chest inside. You just need to wait for it to rest. Please don't shoot it. The poor thing.

Deviations

And now here we are with Deviations! This is where Hastur comes in. He is called Mini Feaster!

Tell me how adorable he is! I actually do have him in Identity V. He's as adorable there. In IDV, he can follow you around! (Please note there are some cases that he will run away but don't worry! He comes back right after. Maybe he just wanted to check something.)

There are many more adorable deviations in Once Human. Other than the deviation they give you by default, I captured a paper doll! It seems to be the janitor. Well, I guess the place it left will now have to be dirty.

There is also Buzzy Bee. Oh that little thing! I captured it after I struggled to defeat an enemy. I even forgot its name. After running and shooting a.k.a actually trying to survive, I saw it! It was the most adorable thing. I luckily captured it. And now it is my friend.

Do I recommend it?

Yes, I do recommend it. As much as I struggle in this game, it's a lot of fun. Whether you have always been a Survival Game fan or a newbie like me, it is worth the try. As I said, there are lots of helpful things out there for you and a community you can join! And the devs are working hard to make the game better and better. They always have updates on their official discord so you can check that out too!
