Hello and welcome back to my pedestal of random games I play for review! Happy New Year and welcome 2026!

Let’s start off the year with a game from 2018 – Mother Simulator. Don’t be surprised if I bring forth the train of simulators. I have missed out of that train from 2025, so I need to play catch up.

The premise of the game is that you are a contestant/participant in a live television show where you are a mother taking care of your baby. In reality, the baby is actually a robot. A very needy robot from what I’ve experienced in this game. Yes, children can be needy, but I don’t think they need to change their diapers every few minutes unless there is a severe stomach flu going around.

Okay, so when I first started the game, I didn’t realize you had to wash the pacifier before you gave it to the baby. Whoops. That’s my first thankful thought that this is a robot. My first attempt at parenting will probably result in dysentery. Shout out to the Oregon Trail from my childhood. The same thing happened when changing it’s diaper – powder first, then diaper. It wasn’t until later I saw that there were picture instructions on the wall for what to do and when to do it.

Can you tell I’m not a parent? Also, I’m not a parent who works under a timer that dictates how good of a provider I am. Yes, you have to perform under a time limit. Good luck!

So I’m thinking, “Okay, I got this. Timer, wash everything, no problem!” There was a problem. When it came to the bottle feeding, I realized how clunky the hands are in the game and they are really good at knocking over the bottle AFTER you have filled it with water and formula.

Also, why is everything dirty before you use it? Did a dust storm run through the house beforehand?

For the hunger level, as in your character gets hungry, not eating the child, I love how quickly and aggressively the mother eats the food. Don’t forget to open the fridge for more food! Most of the food is laid out open in the kitchen, but fridge has a turkey. Enjoy the moment because it only gets more difficult from here.

I thought the diaper dumping for a basketball level was funny. I don’t think too many people throw diapers out of the window, but I have no evidence to say otherwise.

But then, the next level proves that life doesn’t stop even when you yourself are sick. Yep, that’s right, your character, the mother, has diarrhea. What I don’t like is how the use of the toilet takes away time. However, you get more time when you finish using the bathroom and even more time if you remember flush. I like those tiny details, but not at the expense of the player when they don’t know any better. But, after all, you’re a mother in front of a live studio audience, so I too would be disturbed to watch someone use the restroom.

The levels get more difficult as they compound. You now need to use the bathroom, eat, and take care of your baby – like a real mom! And, as with the games of old, there is an ice/snow level for you to peruse and actively do your duties. I don’t know why the game feels the need to freeze over the floor for us to do a slip and slide, but it did, and it is difficult. Thankfully, the home we are in is small with close walls. Hit a wall, pivot, and then continue.

Who’s idea was it to place all of the baby’s toys in a pile and make them all look alike? This level honestly frustrated me the most as the timer ticked away and I am realizing I’m not good at pattern recognition. The stress inducing levels are not good for my mental state and this baby.

There were more levels after the hide and seek of the toys, but I believe I had done enough to form a fair, if kinda whiny review.

As of 2026, you can get this game on Steam for $2 full price. I know! It’s a steal! I really enjoyed this game, and watching others play has been a treat as well; especially if the others playing have kids themselves.
