Monster Hunter Wilds is outlining its plans for the future. As post-launch support for the most recent installment in the Monster Hunter franchise continues, director Yuya Tokuda has disclosed a few more aims the team has in addition to its planned Title Updates.
Tokuda began by outlining the plan for Title Update 1 and later in a letter from the director, which was first shown at the recent Monster Hunter Wilds Showcase. This Friday, April 4, marks the release of the first significant title update.
The Festival of Accord: Blossomdance is a seasonal event that takes place from April 23 to May 7. Additionally, the Arch-tempered Rey Dau will make an appearance in Monster Hunter Wilds from April 30 to May 21.
Update Ver. 1.011, scheduled for release at the end of May, will include an unspecified Capcom partnership along with "other additional features."
This summer will see the release of Title Update 2, which will include a new monster and a seasonal event. Beyond that, Tokuda confirms further free upgrades will be coming.
There's a bigger difficulty ahead.
The issue of tough monster content was covered in part of the letter from the director of Mosnter Hunter Wilds. Battles like the previously stated Arch-tempered Rey Dau, Tempered Arkveld, and a rematch with Zoh Shia are already confirmed.
When Mizutsune arrives with Title Update 1, Tokuda has confirmed that an 8-star Tempered Mizutsune fight will be available at HR 41 or higher.
More 8-star Tempered beasts will be added to the Wilds in the end-of-May update. This update will bring tempered versions of Jin Dahaad, Gore Magala, Rey Dau, Uth Duna, and Nu Udra to the game.
Keeping everything in balance
"These will be implemented gradually with each upcoming title update in order to make the game more enjoyable for everyone for a longer period of time," Tokuda stated. "Depending on the content, these changes may take some time to prepare."
The Hammer is one weapon being evaluated for "upward adjustments," according to the director, which is fantastic news for Hammer fans.
In order to create a "generally balanced" upgrade, Capcom stated that some "unintentionally overpowered" elements—the Corrupted Mantle is one example—will be lowered while other elements will be raised.
The team's current goal is to apply the general weapon balance changes in Title Update 2 this summer or by the end of May.
Performance modifications
Furthermore, Capcom is focusing on performance and stability for Monster Hunter Wilds, with a particular focus on the PC edition.
Title Update 1 is expected to improve the DirectStorage version of the Steam version and reduce VRAM utilization, which should lead to a "overall improvement" in stability for PC gamers.
To strengthen the overall technological experience for gamers across all platforms, more enhancements are planned. Improvements are also planned for the in-game economy, balance, and other areas.
Moving forward, the Monster Hunter Wilds team also has quality-of-life as a top priority. This includes the Grand Hub, which will be included in Title Update 1 and consolidates multiple features into a single endgame area. At each location, the team has also shortened wait times for facility functions.
The team is still working on quality-of-life changes and UI/UX enhancements. Restocking things, verifying skill information, participating in multiplayer quests, utilizing the Seikret, and camera behavior during hunts are some of the tasks on the docket.
Title Update 1 will launch the rollout on Friday, April 4, and Title Update 2 will follow throughout the summer. Despite being new, Monster Hunter Wilds is already among the most played games of the year, and it doesn't appear that Capcom will be slowing down their development plans for it anytime soon.
