Let's go for a ride with Christmas Adventure!

Hold onto your butts...

If you want a whacky game to play that is family friendly and relaxing – look no further than Christmas Adventure: Candy Storm. Let’s start this review.

Not a drug trip.

First things first, we’re playing as the grandchild of Santa Claus driving a car through a snow storm/blizzard with presents in the back of the pick-up truck. Suddenly, magic swirls around us and our truck is turned into candy. No, we are not on a drug trip. The road opens up to a house by a river, with a spirit telling us that three witches – sisters in fact – are responsible for my car. So, I followed clues and hidden object games to knock on the door and solve a frustrating puzzle. Thankfully, the door puzzle is the most difficult part of this game. And that’s why it’s the part I dislike.

This puzzle infuriate me. Every. Single. Playthrough.

Upon entering the house, an old woman, one of the sisters, told me that the car was an accident. Hold on, record scratch, you mean to tell me that you three are just doing chaos magic and it just happens to occur as I was driving through?!

The game becomes even more chaotic as you realize that you are just a handy man or chore dude or maid for these three elderly witches.

The first sister wants knitting supplies to make sweaters for finches. No, I’m not kidding. A child was worried about the birds getting cold, so the first sister needs the supplies to knit sweaters for them. Between each stage of the sisters, there are plenty of hidden object games and puzzles to solve along with matching items to clues to solve and get even more items. Also, who does the cleaning around this house? You’re not just locating lost items, you’re also cleaning messes and fixing broken objects for the ladies. I’m pretty sure this wasn’t an accident that your car got turned into candy.

Behold, the first sister.

The second sister wants you to clean her pots and pans (again, not joking) and then use them to cook for her. Did I mention there’s no payment in this? You cook apple jam and then make a chocolate bunny, which is one of the ingredients to help get your car back to normal. What?

Moving onto the third sister, who lives upstairs blocked by cotton candy (we’re still not taking any drugs), she wants craft supplies and for you to repair her literal irrigation system so her flowers can be watered. By this time, I am annoyed and wanting to find the point to all of this.

But fear not! There is a point – each sister has a special ingredient for you to collect after being errand boy for the past hour of playing. You collect the chocolate bunny, a lilac, poinsettia, and they throw in maple syrup to bind it all together for a magic potion. Who needs drugs when you have this game? With the magic potion in hand, you pour it over your car and the magic unfolds a fully functional pick-up truck.

The final item in the game — your real life mileage may vary with magic.

Conclusion

I joke about being on a drug-induced trip with this game, but honestly, it’s become a comfort game for me, except for the door puzzle. Thankfully, if you find yourself frustrated with a puzzle, there is a “skip” button if you just want to get back to the madness of the three sisters and the hidden object aspect of the game.

I’ve played a lot of hidden object games (maybe I should review those as well), and this is the one that sticks in my head the most. Not because of the insanity of the prospect of the game and your candy car, but the holiday charm is poses while playing. A warning to streamers: There is copyrighted music in this game, so you might want to check the “mute” button in the option menu.

Right now, you can get this game on Steam for $2. If you wait until a sale, you can pay only $0.72 like I did. I definitely think it’s worth the $2 for the charm alone. Oh, and the text in English is a bit broken, but that doesn’t detract from the overall experience of this game.
