Can you play GTA 6 on Nintendo Switch 2?

GTA 6 that too on Nintendo.

2025 is a very exciting year for gamers because this year we are going to get a lot of games and some new consoles too.

Now the most important game among these is GTA 6 which the whole world is waiting for and the most important console is Nintendo Switch 2 which is the most anticipated console of this year.

Now recently a piece of news has come out that GTA 6 will run on the Nintendo Switch 2. Now this is not a random or baseless rumor.

By the way, let me tell you where this news suddenly came from.

GTA 6 & Nintendo

So recently on an earnings call, the CEO of Take-Two Interactive stated that the Nintendo Switch console is a gaming console on which people of all age groups play and it is not that it only targets a younger audience.

He also said that many third-party games have been successfully launched on Nintendo Switch and now Take-Two Interactive's games will also support Nintendo Switch 2 in the coming future.

Nintendo Switch consoles are not for kids or I think finally Xbox, PlayStation and PC gamers will also accept this now.

Switch 2 Future

Now look, this is very positive news for Nintendo fans because this statement means that we will get to play Take-Two Studio's games like Grand Theft Auto, Borderlands, WWE 2k Series etc on Nintendo Switch 2 which is a great thing.

People have also derived from this statement that GTA 6 will be launched on Nintendo Switch 2 in the future.

But what if GTA 6 doesn't live up to the hype? Check out my detailed take on why you shouldn't expect too much from GTA 6.

However currently GTA 4 and GTA 5 are not available on Nintendo, so I think there are more chances of GTA 4 and GTA 5 being launched on the Nintendo Switch 2 before GTA 6.

And if we look at the leaked Nintendo Switch 2 specs, it is clear that GTA 4 and GTA 5 can easily run at dynamic 1080p 60FPS on the Nintendo Switch 2.

Switch 2 Hardware

But look, as far as GTA 6 running on the Nintendo Switch 2 is concerned, I'm a little doubtful because Nintendo Switch 2 is as powerful as a PS4 Pro AT MAX.

So does Nintendo Switch 2 have enough row power to run GTA 6? This is a big question. There is a hidden feature that might help Nintendo Switch 2, which is AI upscaling and frame generation.

Look, these days it is the era of AI and companies don't focus on having more row power natively. Their focus is on upscaling resolution with AI and generating FPS with AI.

So look, GTA 6 is not going to run natively on Nintendo Switch 2, but maybe there might be a slim chance that it might run through AI.

Nintendo Switch console is the second best-selling console in the world at the time of writing this piece of content and very soon it will overtake PlayStation 2 to become the world's most-selling console.

Along with that Nintendo Switch 2 is the most anticipated console of 2025 so its sales are also going to be great.

Conclusion

So it makes sense for game studios to launch their game on the Nintendo Switch ecosystem because Nintendo's player base is so big.

Look, I'm trying to say that Nintendo Switch consoles sell a lot, so there is an opportunity to earn a lot of money by launching games in the Nintendo ecosystem.

Look, companies are only interested in making money, just like everybody else, so they will go wherever there is a money-making opportunity.

So these were my thoughts about GTA 6 on Nintendo Switch 2. But what if GTA 6 is Rockstar’s final GTA game? I’ve analyzed all the reasons here.
