Evony K45 Strategy Guide: Proven Tips from a 12B Power Player
Reaching K45 in Evony certainly isn't for the faint-hearted

Reaching Evony K45 requires a staggering 101 billion stone and approximately 95 billion of each other resource. When I first learned these numbers, I was shocked at the sheer magnitude of what's needed to achieve this milestone in the game. Indeed, the resource requirements for upgrading just one building, like Barracks from K41 to K42, exceed what you've likely spent on your actual Keep.
To unlock K45, you need all troop buildings—Archer Camp, Barracks, Workshop, and Stables—upgraded to level 44. Furthermore, this means upgrading a total of 29 buildings before you can even attempt the K45 upgrade itself. Although many players believe reaching K45 is nearly impossible, surprisingly, once you get there, unlocking T16 troops becomes relatively straightforward.
In this guide, I'll share my proven strategies for reaching this monumental milestone without bankrupting your resources or burning through years of speedups. The amount of resources and speedups required is, as many players describe it, "just crazy". Nevertheless, with proper planning and the right approach, you can join the elite ranks of K45 players more efficiently than you might think. Having helped multiple alliance members reach this level, I've compiled the most effective methods to navigate what is undoubtedly one of Evony's greatest challenges.
Understanding the K45 Milestone
The K45 update is the dog's bollocks when it comes to game-changing features in Evony. Unlike its predecessor, K45 expands the entire game vertically, allowing all buildings to reach level 45 instead of just stopping at 40. This isn't merely a number change—it's a complete overhaul of what players can achieve.
What makes K45 different from K40
Blimey, the differences are substantial! With K45, march sizes have become absolutely massive, reaching the 7 million range. Your Monarch level can now hit 45, unlocking additional talents that were previously inaccessible. Additionally, the update introduces fascinating new structures like the Ideal Land building, which grants all troops a 5% boost to HP, attack, and defense stats at just level 2.
Another brilliant addition is the Council of State, where you can assign titles to different general types. Gathering tiles now go up to level 16, providing 10 million resources each compared to the 8.4 million from level 15 tiles. Moreover, upon completing the poem of history, your server gains access to the formidable B18 and B19 bosses.
Why reaching K45 is a major achievement
Reaching K45 is no walk in the park—it's proper hard graft. The sheer power required to compete at this level is mind-boggling. To put it in perspective, defeating Level 45 Kheshigs with zero wounds requires either T14 troops or approximately 1,250,000 T13 mounted units with a ~900% mounted attack buff.
What's truly remarkable is that despite these enormous requirements, some alliances achieved K45 within an hour of the update's release. This speaks volumes about the dedication and resources that top players commit to the game.
The impact of the Evony K45 update
The K45 update has been a bit of a Marmite situation among players—some love it, others hate it with a passion. Certain high-spending players reportedly quit the game following the update, claiming Evony had "lost touch" with its user base. Many felt the resource requirements were simply taking the mickey.
On the bright side, the update offers two additional subsidy slots (available at VIP15 and VIP18), an expanded Military Academy with two formations, and Spirit Beast updates for Pegasus, Nine-Tailed Fox, and Siren. These additions provide serious strategic advantages for those who can reach them.
In essence, the K45 update represents both Evony's ambitious vision for gameplay expansion and its greatest challenge. It separates the wheat from the chaff, creating an exclusive tier of gameplay that few will achieve but many will aspire to reach.
All Required Buildings and Their Dependencies
Getting your buildings in proper order for the K45 upgrade is like playing a game of chess—each move depends on the one before. The path to this milestone isn't just about resources; it's about understanding the critical building dependencies that many players overlook.
1. Archer Camp → Required for Stables
Your Archer Camp serves as the foundation stone in this building chain. This facility trains your ranged troops and must be prioritized early on. At level 21, you unlock the Duty Officer position, which boosts your ranged troop training speed. Don't be caught with your trousers down—upgrading Archer Camp requires your Keep to be at the same level, plus hefty amounts of food and lumber that increase exponentially with each level.
2. Stables → Required for Workshop
Once your Archer Camp is sorted, the Stables become your next port of call. These buildings train your mounted troops, which are crucial for balanced army composition. The resource requirements follow similar patterns to the Archer Camp, with each level demanding progressively more materials. Essentially, without proper Stables, your Workshop upgrade hits a brick wall.
3. Workshop → Required for K45
The Workshop is the final piece of this particular puzzle. This building produces siege machines vital for K45 gameplay. At level 29, you'll unlock another Duty Officer position. The Workshop represents the last hurdle in your building chain before attempting the K45 upgrade itself—no Workshop, no dice for K45.
4. Barracks and Walls → Parallel upgrades
Your Barracks and Walls must be upgraded in tandem. The Walls aren't just for show—they determine how many traps you can build and significantly increase your city's defense power. For virtually every Keep level upgrade, your Walls must match your Keep level. This parallel development is non-negotiable and forms a critical part of your K45 strategy.
5. Embassy, War Hall, and Market → Hidden prerequisites
These three buildings are the dark horses in your K45 journey. The Embassy (unlocked at Keep 9) enables alliance reinforcements, while the War Hall organizes rallies against enemies. Meanwhile, the Market "ALWAYS needs to be upgraded first". Many players come a cropper by neglecting these seemingly less important structures, only to find themselves stuck before reaching K45.
Proven Tips from a 12B Power Player
After years of slogging away at Evony, I've learned that the road to K45 is full of pitfalls for the unwary. Here are my battle-tested strategies that have helped me reach 12 billion power.
1. Prioritize buildings with combat benefits
Your Barracks, Archer Camp, Stables, and Workshop aren't just pretty buildings—they're your bread and butter for combat effectiveness. The Shrine and Council of State should take precedence over decorative structures as they directly boost your fighting capabilities.
2. Use events to time your upgrades
Don't be a wally—save your resources for Power Increase and Speed-Up Consumption events. Proper timing nets you double rewards without extra effort. Activate construction or research buffs immediately before starting tasks, not during.
3. Stack speed-ups and resources in advance
Rallying Cerberus or Pan can yield 220 hours of speed-ups in a single go if your personal score exceeds 1,200. Completing all resource types at higher levels yields thousands of days of speed-ups—over 9,500 days at the 35B level.
4. Use family accounts to support rallies
Too right—family accounts are essential for K45. Access the Family Group via Settings > Account > Family Group. Without these secondary accounts, reaching K45 becomes virtually impossible.
5. Join an active alliance for help
A proper alliance provides critical benefits: shared resources, faster building upgrades, and defensive reinforcements during attacks. Alliance Science unlocks valuable buffs for all members, giving you a leg up on the competition.
6. Don't blindly follow the in-game upgrade path
The game's suggested upgrade path is often a dog's dinner. Instead, prioritize academy upgrades and cavalry attack research for monster hunting, which generates more speed-ups and resources.
7. Focus on Archer Tower and Watchtower early
The Archer Tower boosts city defense and applies debuffs to attackers, while the Watchtower provides detailed scouting reports and warns of incoming attacks. Level 37 Watchtower reveals enemy defense generals—crucial intelligence for PvP.
8. Track your progress with a building checklist
Keep tabs on your requirements—for example, level 37 Archer Tower needs Keep37 and Walls37, requiring over 2.3 billion food and nearly 3 billion lumber. A proper checklist prevents nasty surprises when you're ready to upgrade.
Managing Resources and Speed-Ups Efficiently
The real battle in reaching K45 isn't against other players—it's against your own resource stockpile. Resource management is less about hoarding and more about strategic spending.
How much RSS you really need
Blimey, the numbers for K45 are astronomical! You'll need approximately 65.5 billion food, 79.5 billion lumber, 79.6 billion stone, and 89.1 billion ore. That's not pocket change! However, don't be fooled by rumors—some players claimed you'd need 10 trillion of each resource, which is codswallop. The actual requirements, though steep, are achievable with proper planning.
Best events to farm speed-ups
The Resource Consumption Event is your golden ticket, offering bonus rewards for resources you'd spend anyway. Consequently, stockpiling before this event and then unleashing everything when it begins creates a virtuous cycle. Henceforth, you should also target the Speed-up Consumption Event, which gives returns just for using your speedups.
If you complete all resource types at the 35B level, you'll rack up over 9,500 days of speedups! Still, don't overlook time-limited server events that increase resource gathering yield and speed.
Why you should avoid last-minute upgrades
Last-minute scrambles are a mug's game. Speedups are valuable, yet hoarding too many slows your growth. Primarily, you should spend speedups when competing in events, nearing Keep upgrades, or building troops for war. Until you've stacked construction buffs, alliance speedup events, and server buffs together, hold off on major upgrades.
Using Cerberus and other bosses for speed-ups
The Cerberus boss family is the crown jewel for speed-up farming. Senior Cerberus drops 9,090 minutes (6.3 days) of general speeds! Junior Cerberus, despite being easier to defeat, still provides 1.45 days of speedups. Specifically, Cerberus, Pan, Ymir, Griffin, Witch 3, Warlord 3, Hydra 3, and Phoenix are your best bets. For resources, Ymir 3 is top dog, dropping 266,666 resources per stamina spent.
