Deadpool Just Broke Marvel Rivals, and Season 6 Has Barely Started

What role is Deadpool in Marvel Rivals?

Deadpool role marvel rivals

Oh. My. God. Buckle up, because Season 6 has arrived and Marvel Rivals just kicked off 2026 by detonating the internet. And right at the center of the chaos? Of course—Deadpool.

“I’m a duelist. A vanguard. A strategist. A Marvel 3-in-1, baby!”

Yep. You heard the man. Deadpool is officially every role in the game at once. How that’s even remotely legal is beyond me, but don’t worry—I’m breaking down every ridiculous detail. And trust me… this is only the beginning of the madness Season 6 is about to unleash.

Let’s dive right into the merc with the mouth.

Deadpool: The First Triple-Role Hero in Marvel Rivals

Deadpool is the headliner of Season 6, with Elsa Bloodstone confirmed for Season 6.5, but Wade Wilson gets the spotlight right now—and he steals every bit of it.

Developers confirmed only one Deadpool per team is allowed, but players can queue as Duelist, Vanguard, or Strategist Deadpool. No duplicates. No stacking. No chaos squared.

Regardless of role, he’s armed with his iconic twin Desert Eagles for ranged damage and his katanas for up-close slicing. But each role’s stats, utility, and abilities shift dramatically.

Let’s break down all three versions.

Duelist Deadpool — 250 HP, Bullets, Blades, and Absolute Nonsense

Duelist mode gives him 250 health and a 30-round ammo pool. His katanas are available via a light-shift swap, similar to Blade.

We also got first looks at his ability icons, and they are peak Deadpool energy:

  • Headshot — his alt-fire, represented by a severed Deadpool head (a cheeky Headpool nod).
  • Hazardous Hijinks — two boomerang-style wind-blades with dual charges.
  • Deadpool in Your Area — an icon that literally looks like a Deadpool Funko Pop.
  • Jump/Space Ability — clearly more than a simple jump; likely mobility-enhancing shenanigans.
  • Ultimate(s) — plural. He appears to have multiple ultimate choices.

And then… that mysterious little bar under his health with the Deadpool icon?

Yeah. That bar is about to break the entire game. More on that in a second.

Vanguard Deadpool — 500 HP and… a Unicorn Shield?

Switch over to his Vanguard form and Deadpool’s HP doubles to 500—and his right-click becomes a unicorn plushie.

Not a joke.

This plushie drops a 300 HP shield dome for teammates or can be placed like a wall barrier. Imagine watching a grand finals cast:

“AND HE THROWS THE UNICORN PLUSHIE TO SAVE THE TEAM—WHAT A PLAY!”

I can't wait.

Strategist Deadpool — Healing Bullets and Support Swords

Strategist Deadpool drops back to 250 HP, but his kit transforms entirely. Both his guns and swords heal allies and damage enemies.

  • Guns heal like Luna’s weapon mechanics.
  • Blades behave similarly to Angela’s axes.

This makes him a hybrid support/DPS nightmare—and probably a balance patch waiting to happen.

Deadpool’s Mid-Match Upgrade System (Yes… He Levels Himself Up Like a Mobile Game)

Remember that Deadpool bar beneath his health?

Prepare yourself.

Deadpool can upgrade his abilities mid-match by literally whipping out a comic book and selecting upgrades on the fly. Better players fill the bar faster—meaning the “sweat lords” are going to become unstoppable terrors.

We thought Gambit’s kit was a lot.

Deadpool laughed and said “hold my chimichanga.”

Good Luck Picking Him

Let’s be honest: unless your reflexes are blessed by the gods—or your internet is fast enough to power NASA—Deadpool is going to be insta-locked every game.

Blink and he’s gone.

We’ll break down more once his full hero trailer drops, but for now…

New Map: Convoy Arrives January 29

A new convoy-style map drops at the end of the month, spiritually similar to Collector’s Museum. Expect Easter eggs, hidden references, and plenty of exploding chaos.

Resource Rumble: DELETED

Yep. Gone. Poof. TVA’d.

And honestly? Thank the heavens.

They claim it’ll return revamped—maybe a full 18v18 mode—so we’ll see what 2026 has in store. But for now, Quick Play is safe once more.

New Team-Ups, Removed Team-Ups, and Spider-Man’s… Bomb?

We didn’t get a ton this time, but what we did get is wild.

New Team-Ups

- Penny Parker becomes an anchor for Parker Powerup with a new personal buff.

- Peter Parker gets a brand new ability:

Spider-Man now has a bomb.

It explodes for AoE damage, applies a tracer, and if he doesn’t throw it, it gives him bonus health and extra webs.

Spider-Man mains are already cooking ways to torture the rest of us.

- Deadpool + Jeff team-up:

Mr. Pool’s Interdimensional Toy Box

Jeff deploys a “troll turret” that shoots water, heals allies, spams voice lines, and blocks sightlines.

Because apparently we didn’t hate Jeff enough.

  • Venom gets Symbiotic Shenanigans, granting absurd AoE healing.
  • Doctor Strange likely receives a returning gamma team-up in Season 6.5.

Removed Team-Ups

  • Ever-Burning Bond (Human Torch + Spider-Man) — gone.
  • Human Torch loses his anchor bonus.
  • Penny Parker is removed from Rocket Network.

No more double-nest meta. Rejoice.

Balance Changes Teased

The devs touched on meta adjustments coming soon:

Vanguard Buffs

  • Captain America — buff incoming.
  • Hulk — buff incoming.
  • Doctor Strange — mobility and damage buffs.

Mobility Nerfs

  • Angela’s mobility toned down.

Duelist Changes

  • Daredevil — nerfed (shocking no one).
  • Blade + Iron Fist — buffed.
  • Namor — less team-up reliant, stronger base kit.
  • Hela — slight nerf due to Namor adjustments.

Strategist Changes

  • Gambit — nerfs incoming, especially on ult healing.
  • Invisible Woman — guardian shield + self-heal nerfed.
  • Cloak & Dagger — buffs via shared charges on terracape + veil of light.

Expect massive meta shakeups…but let’s be real.

Deadpool is going to overshadow everything anyway.

Lord System: Major Overhaul

If you grind Marvel Rivals and love mastering a single hero, this is your moment. The Lord system is getting a full upgrade, not just a tweak.

New unlockables teased:

  • backgrounds
  • custom KO feeds
  • animated hero icons
  • progression past the standard Lord badge

The more you play, the more your hero identity evolves visually. It’s going to take time, but in the best possible way.

And Finally… Everything Else

The devs squeezed in more:

Photo Mode

Take snapshots in Times Square. Which means players absolutely will not use it as intended.

Clobbering Club

Basically Fight Club in Times Square.

You can duel other players—and even broadcast matches if you spend some units.

If this is just the start of 2026, Marvel Rivals players are in for one insane year.
