Cameron and Cayden Boozer Choose Duke Over Miami and Florida: What the 5-Star Twins Bring to the Blue Devils
On Friday, five-star twins Cameron and Cayden Boozer, two of the top recruits in the 2025 class, committed to Duke. Cameron, ranked No. 2 in the nation, and Cayden, ranked No. 21, chose the Blue Devils over their other finalists, Miami and Florida. Their decision carries on the family legacy, as their father, Carlos Boozer, also played at Duke and was part of the 2001 national championship team before going on to have a successful 13-year NBA career.
Both brothers bring incredible talent to Duke’s basketball program, but Cameron, standing at 6-foot-9 and weighing 235 pounds, comes with a particularly high level of expectation. His accomplishments in high school and grassroots basketball have already made him a standout. He led Columbus High School to three consecutive Florida state championships and guided his grassroots team to three straight Peach Jam titles, earning the MVP honor in the summer of 2024. Over the summer, Cameron averaged 24.5 points and 13.4 rebounds per game, leading the Elite Youth Basketball League (EYBL) in both categories.
Cameron is known for his strong physical build and an incredibly well-rounded skillset that makes him one of the most highly regarded high school players in the country. With his college-ready frame and versatile abilities, many are already comparing him to elite players like current Duke freshman Cooper Flagg and AJ Dybantsa, who is the top-ranked player in the 2025 class.
In terms of playstyle, Cameron dominates in the post. His advanced footwork and wide array of post moves make him a constant threat inside. He’s also been one of the best rebounders on the grassroots circuit since he was 15. But what makes him even more impressive is his evolution into a modern stretch-big. Over the last couple of years, Cameron has developed a reliable 3-point shot, making him a dual threat on the floor. He can also handle the ball when needed, showcasing his versatility. While he’s not the most athletic player in the class, Cameron’s combination of size, basketball IQ, and shooting ability positions him to make an immediate impact at Duke and eventually become a high pick in the 2026 NBA Draft.
Cayden, on the other hand, brings a different style of play to the table. At 6-foot-4 and 205 pounds, he’s a true point guard, a position his father and brother never played. Like Cameron, Cayden has won at the highest levels of youth basketball, earning MVP honors in the 2023 U16 Peach Jam championship game. This summer, he led the EYBL in assists with an average of 6.5 per game, showing his ability to distribute the ball effectively while also being able to score when needed.
Though Cayden doesn’t always get the same level of attention as his brother due to Cameron’s status, his talents shouldn’t be overlooked. He excels in running the offense and is known for his balanced approach, whether it’s setting up his teammates or creating his own opportunities. While Cameron may be a one-and-done player before heading to the NBA, Cayden is expected to have a more extended college career, potentially playing multiple seasons at Duke.
For Duke, landing the Boozer twins is a huge win, especially as head coach Jon Scheyer looks to fill expected gaps in the roster next season. The Blue Devils are projected to lose several key players, including Cooper Flagg, and the addition of Cameron and Cayden sets a solid foundation for the future. These are Duke’s first two commitments for the 2025 class, and their presence will play a pivotal role in how the rest of the recruiting class shapes up.
Duke is already in the hunt for several other top prospects, including Nate Ament (No. 4), Shelton Henderson (No. 22), and Acaden Lewis (No. 36), who all visited the program last weekend during the Countdown to Craziness preseason event. But with Cameron and Cayden Boozer now on board, Duke is off to a strong start in securing one of the most promising recruiting classes in the country.
