The noble warriors of Feudal Japan have certainly made their mark in history with the Genpei Wars and the Sengoku Period. They also have been able to make their mark in samurai cinema like many of the Akira Kurosawa films and 13 Assassins, there is no shortage of samurai based films. Then of course you have various anime like Sengoku Basara and manga like Blade of the Immortal, as well as classic pieces like the 47 Ronin.

Recently the game Ghost of Tsushima for the Playstation 4 and 5 has the lead character Jin Sakai being the last Samurai to stand against the invading Mongol army and their plans to take over Japan.

I am not here to gloat about the greatness of the most famous warriors in history. I am here to post some ideas about these famous warriors and what video games can be made of them.

Assassins Creed

According to USgamer.net, the concept of a Feudal Japan setting for the Assassins Creed series has become an "elusive Holy Grail"*.

Despite the fact that a series set in Japan is not happening anytime soon, the possibility of a series being set in Japan has not been ruled out.

I already have a post on this matter, along with Far Cry, about these ideas posted below.

Alternate Universe: Mongols invade mainland Japan

What would have happened if the typhoon that devastated the Mongol fleet never happened and the stalemate at Hakata expanded into what would have been full scale conquest of Japan?

This would be the idea of for a Samurai based video-game where you play the role of a samurai fighting against the Mongols only to have the force he was serving with be slaughtered by the invading horde.

The character can then seek his revenge for his fallen brothers, by recruiting random people who are willing and able to fight against the conquering Mongol forces.

Predator's first arriving in Japan

The most badass group of xeno's in the galaxy have certainly made their mark in comic book history as the hunters of strong,war-like people.

Since the Yautja have appeared through many timelines, what if there was a video game featuring one of these fierce hunters during the days of the Samurai?

The protagonist could be a Young Blood on his way to making his mark as a great hunter alongside another Young Blood, along with a Bloodied, an Elite Predator and a Leader. Other than making their mark as hunters by going up against the Samurai, the Xenomorphs could be involved somehow and the Yautja have to prove themselves twice over.

While the Predator technology will be put into to use, the Young Blood protagonist would learn about how to use the weapons of the samurai along with the philosophy of the Samurai, Haiku, Japanese mythology and maybe even some indulge in some sake.

Genpei War

The conflict that marked the rise of the Shogunate, the establishment of Feudalism in and the beginning of the Samurai class.

While there have been a pair of video games entitled Genji: Dawn of the Samurai and Genji: Days of the Blade, that were loosely inspired by the Japanese classic The Tale of Heike, these pair of games had a fantasy-fiction theme based off of Japanese mythology and folklore during the backdrop of the national civil war that was the Genpei War.

Since then, there have been no samurai-based video games taking place during this timeline.

If there is to be another samurai-based video that is made, why not do it during this conflict rather than during the time of Nobunaga Oda, Toyotomi Hideyoshi and Tokugawa Ieyasu?

I mean, the Sengoku period has been done to way too much in anime and manga and there really needs to be a change in when and where certain events take place in the days of the samurai.
