More exciting news emerges out of Activision, today, as the company revealed that they plan to release more remastered editions of their old IP’s, in 2018.

Could this be the confirmation we were waiting for pertaining to the long-awaited remaster of Spyro the Dragon?

As part of the annual report to investors. Activision confirmed that they planned to release more new remasters of older IP’s. The report states that it plans more “releases of remastered versions of titles from our [Activision’] library of IP".

This is not surprising when you look back at the success of the Crash Bandicoot trilogy remaster, last year. Since then, fans have been eager to get their hands on more remastered nostalgic gold. And, the number one name on many players list is Spyro the Dragon.

Speaking out last year on the success of the Crash remaster, Activision CEO, Eric Hirshberg (CEO) said:

"Crash has surpassed all of our expectations by a pretty wide margin. And a couple of stats that underscore that point where it was the number one selling console game in June based on units, even though it was only available for two days during that month. We think we have other great IP in our portfolio that we're considering of course... I think you can be confident that there will be more activity like this in the future with more great IP."

Today’s confirmation of more classic remasters to release this year seems to coincide well with Hirschberg’s statement from last year.

While nothing is officially confirmed, at this stage, it is certainly looking more and more likely that we will see Spyro the Dragon remastered in 2018.

Are you ready for Spyro the Dragon to be remastered?
