    Hash Tagging

The right hashtag can propel social media posts to an unprecedented level sometimes, and create a viral post. Hashtags are used with an intent to discover content, the right hashtags can put you in front of your target audience, even if they have never connected with you or heard of you before. This aspect is extremely important for fresh or new social media accounts with a lower count of followers. As time goes on and you gain a larger following you can dial down the hashtags you use and supplement your brand with meaningful hashtags closely related to your brand. A use case would be “Horror Game Streamer” I would use #horrorgame and then find related results. Use the online tools provided to help posts reach new audiences. Correctly marking all your social posts with the right hashtags is essential. Wrong spelling or misuse can create unwanted results.

    Networking

Getting out there and just talking to people can get them interested in what you do. Engaging other users/streamers is a great way to generate new viewers and followers, especially on twitch. You never want to promote your stream in another streamer’s chat, but there are ways around that. Using topics around your brand you can entice conversation in the general direction of what you do or want to promote. Being genuine is a very big part of networking, Getting into other like-minded discords, social circles, or communities is a great way to spread knowledge about your stream. Engaging in others’ social posts is free advertising. Your name is right there a clickable link! Even better if you are genuine and people like what you say!

    Social Media

A key component to growing a brand on twitch is using Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, it can broaden your twitch presence. Allowing other people to find you on different platforms. Another big part of social media is the actual social circle you create. Let’s say you have a really strong friendship with Bob, Carly, and Max who follow you. You can ask them if you can tag them in your social media posts. If you can, then Bob, Carly, and Max can all re-share that post. This will work for things like Facebook, and Twitter. This can be an extremely smart way to broaden your following and new potential audience.

    Stream Quality

Stream Quality is very important. With all the technology we have these days many viewers don't want to watch low-quality streams, just like most people don't want to watch low-quality films. You can increase your stream quality by having the proper stream settings, equipment, and moderators. This can be easily searched for online. Here are a few resources to get you started. Moderators can help simplify the online streaming tasks if you are busy, and mediate any potential or unwanted trolling. If you have a set of rules stick to them, enforce them. Most streamers will use 1080p Stream quality. It is okay to use 720p for lower bandwidth but again the higher the quality the more likely you are to retain viewers.

    Consistency

Consistency builds viewers. A constant stream schedule will help your viewers and new online friends. You can let your viewers know that you are serious about streaming and building your online community and viewership. Consistency also adds to the value of your content. Giving more content is always better. Streaming for longer periods will increase your chances of being found. Streaming for shorter periods will generate more of a demand for the content. Finding a happy medium for yourself is very important.

    The Revolving door of viewers

This is something not many streamers will talk about, nor touch on in a very in-depth manner. Viewers / Subscribers / Followers are all grouped and are considered your “audience”. I learned over the years the gaming industry will always be constantly evolving. That means the demand for certain games will fluctuate, in the end, this boils down to one thing. Your audience. The audience is always changing pace in some way. This may be a little weird to understand but think of your stream as a mall. You have rotating doors in and out of that mall. Now stay with me here. People will always walk in and out of the mall. They’re not always going to be the same people. So in the first month you have 5 people in the mall, and the next month you have 10, there may only be 3 from the first 5 and the rest are new. If you can grasp that idea. Then You understand what I mean by saying the “Revolving Door of Viewers”.

Giving back to the Viewers or Value

    This is important! YOUR CONTENT.

Your content is important. No matter how little or how much you stream. Your content needs to stay true to its “audience”. This means if you are a horror game streamer. Then stick to it. That’s your niche. Don’t play Overwatch just because it has more viewers. People will respect you for staying true to your audience.
