Imagining a future world requires a lot of human creativity and imagination, even today, science has made great advances.

However, there was a normal person who, after a year in a coma, fascinated futurologists when he recounted in detail his experiences in another person's body in the year... 3906.

The Dream Diary

Paul Amadeus Dienach was born in Zurich, Switzerland in 1884. Since he was a child, he always dreamed of standing on the podium, imparting knowledge to the younger generation and constantly striving to achieve this. After graduating, he became a teacher of German and French.

Did Paul Amadeus Dienach really “travel to the future”?

In 1917, Dienach contracted a mysterious illness called Encephalitis lethargica , commonly known as sleeping sickness . People with the disease fall into a coma for long periods of time, sometimes never waking up. Dienach began the illness with sleep coming on spontaneously, sometimes for a few minutes, other times for days.

In 1921, his condition worsened and he was in a deep sleep for a year. During this time, he was kept under constant observation in a hospital in Zurich. When he awoke, he was found to be suffering from tuberculosis, probably contracted in the hospital. After his condition gradually stabilized, Dienach moved to Greece, where he worked as a French teacher.

In his class, he became quite close to a student named Georgios Papachatzis , who later became an important figure in the Greek government. In 1924, when he intended to return to Switzerland, he gave Papachatzis his personal diary as a gift.

In this diary, he wrote down everything he “dreamed ” about during his year-long coma . Dienach’s only wish to Papachatzis was that the information contained in the diary not be made public. Shortly after, in 1924, Dienach died of tuberculosis.

Papachatzis read the diary and translated it from French to Greek. At first he thought his teacher had written a mystery novel, but the more he read, the more he realized that what he was translating was his teacher's memories .

In 800 pages, Dienach described the process of his consciousness leaving his body and entering the body of a person… living in the year 3906. Despite Dienach's warnings, Papachatzis published the book in 1972.

In fact, Dienach was not a professional author, poet or writer, nor was he a person with much imagination. Throughout the diary, Dienach said that he was just an ordinary person writing down what he experienced, with no intention of publishing it and no desire to become famous through a book.

However, the book titled “Chronicles of Tomorrow: The Strange Story of Paul Amadeus Dienach” was published by Papachatzis, causing a lot of controversy. Many people said that the author (Dienach) tried to turn the novel into a true story.

From diary to controversial book.

What is the future world like?

In the book, Dienach describes waking up in the year 3906 in the body of a man named Andreas Northam , who was lying in a hospital in a state of clinical death after an accident.

Dienach (in the form of Andreas) was amazed by the modern technology of the hospital, as well as the uniforms worn by the doctors. He did not understand the language the doctors spoke, nor could he remember who he really was. Even more astonishingly, Dienach's consciousness controlling Andreas' body discovered everything that had happened from 1921 to the year 3906. According to him, the biggest problems in the 20th and 21st centuries were:

World War

Disrespect for nature

State of violence

Excessive consumerism is destroying the planet

In addition, world politics and economics were controlled by a new global order. Violence and poverty spread throughout the world. It was time for the Earth to be overpopulated and Mars was colonized by many people. However, the Mars colony only lasted 60 years, after which a catastrophic phenomenon destroyed everything on it.

In 2309, almost the entire population of Europe was wiped out by a nuclear war. The survivors migrated to Southern Europe, beginning the process of repopulation on the continent. At the beginning of the 24th century, a new global government was established, eliminating all countries and continents, and the entire population of Earth belonged to a single country, bringing equality to humanity.

Dienach emphasized that the year 2894 was very important, witnessing the rebirth of a spiritual force in the Rose Valley. This spiritual entity brought a new type of person and a new way of life to society, making humanity happier.

In the year 3382 , a man named Alex Volky spread a new idea about human consciousness, through meditation. People unlocked the true power of the mind and did amazing things, like controlling the chemicals in the body that affect emotions.

Interestingly, history up to the year 3906 seems to follow the philosophy presented by Giambattista Vico (1668 -1744), who described humanity's journey through time as a never-ending cycle of ups and downs.

Humans will always face challenges that lead to death and depression. Humanity will have difficulty achieving a stable state of happiness, regardless of technological advances or spiritual enrichment.

The specifics of the book have led many to believe that Dienach actually “time traveled” to the year 3906. However, his descriptions of the far future are dismissed by some as the ramblings of a sleepwalker. Nevertheless, his story remains a source of fascination for futurologists.
