Seedtime and Harvest is not about money

The Biblical view is not what is being taught in some churches today.

As long as the earth remains

In certain Christian denominations, it is taught that seedtime and harvest mean you sow money into spiritual leaders, and or their ministry and at a set time you reap financial rewards.

I know many believers in Christ have given big, but passed away with no more money than their paycheck or retirement. Others have walked away from the churches teaching this message and some have turned their back on their faith.

What does the Bible say about seedtime and harvest? In Genesis chapter 8: 21 and 22 we read:

21 And the Lord smelled a sweet savour; and the Lord said in his heart, I will not again curse the ground any more for man's sake; for the imagination of man's heart is evil from his youth; neither will I again smite any more every thing living, as I have done.

22 While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease.

Misinterpretation of scripture

These are the verses that are taught as a promise of riches, so why are people planting seeds of money and receiving no return? Gilbert Tripp, the founder of Tripp Bible Institute, told me we should always read what comes before and after specific scripture to have a proper understanding of the context.

Genesis chapter 8 takes place after the flood, when the entire earth was destroyed. Noah and those who were on the Ark with him are seeing the world for the first time after the 40 days and nights of rain. It must have been a distressing sight, and they were probably wondering how they would obtain food.

The Lord gave them some encouragement by saying that seedtime and harvest would remain. God had given the sign of the rainbow as His pledge that He would never again destroy the world by a flood.

He then gives the promise that He will not curse the ground again, and the seasons of summer, winter, spring, and fall would continue for as long as the earth remains.

Seedtime and harvest in this context refer to planting crops in the ground that would grow in due season and produce food for Noah and his family. This has nothing to do with giving money to a spiritual leader and expecting God to multiply it and give you a due season of prosperity.

Seedtime and harvest, was the Lord promising Noah and his family that they once again would be able to eat from the land and that it would continue until the end of time.

Misleading doctrine

Prosperity pimps have lied to the body of Christ, but it is not all their fault. 2 Timothy 2:15 says Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

Paul was telling Timothy to study the Bible for himself and obtain the proper understanding from the Holy Spirit so that he could teach others and not give them false doctrine.

Many preachers teach Seed----Time---and a harvest of finances that people are not seeing and wondering why. When you understand that Genesis chapter 8 is about the people who were on the Ark and what they could expect, then you will not fall for the misleading doctrine that separates you from your money and makes greedy preachers rich.

Imagine the shock of Noah and his 7 family members as they exited the Ark to find the world they once knew was gone. They had no idea how they were going to make it, but the Lord gave them assurance that they would.

Miusnderstanding

Anyone who has ever planted a garden knows that there is a specific time of year when you plant seeds for specific vegetables. When you adhere to the proper schedule, you reap a harvest in the due season. unless bad weather, animals, or insects invade your crop.

I have spoken to people who believe they are blessed because they "sowed seeds". Still, this does not change the fact that in the Biblical context, Genesis chapter 8 is about a y9ielod from the earth and not your finaces.
