Redditors are able to make money for their contributions based on the gold and karma they receive.

How do I qualify for the Contributor Program?

To be eligible for the Contributor Program, a Redditor has to:

• Earn 10 gold and 100 new karma over one year
• Complete the verification procedure for onboarding
• Have an account that is not related to an advertiser account suspended for violating the Ads Policy
• Have a verified, connected Stripe account
• Comply with and accept the Contributor Monetization Policy and Contributor Terms
• Have a Reddit account that has been active for at least one month and is registered using a verified email address
• Have an account with Reddit that is in good standing
• Reside in one of these supported countries
• Be a minimum of 18 years of age

Make Money with ‘Karma’ Points

If you’re eligible, according to Reddit, you will get a payout once minimum karma and gold thresholds are met. Usually, Redditors give gold to comments and posts they view as great content. Top contributors make the most; the more gold and karma made, the more income you’ll get.

How much money you make depends on 2 tiers: Top Contributor and Contributor. Contributors earn 100 to 4,999 karma within a one-year period, whereas Top Contributors earn 5,000 or more karma within a one-year period. The rate of payout for a Contributor is 90 cents/one gold and $1/ one gold for a Top Contributor. A Redditor needs at least 10 gold to be eligible for a payout, and the payouts are additionally subject to provider fees (about $2.25 in addition to a 0.25 percent fee) for every transaction.

Program Restrictions

Not every contribution qualifies for the program. A contribution mustn’t be:

• Encouraging harmful or illegal behavior or practices
• Restricted content (firearms, gambling, or drugs)
• Violent content
• Suggestive or sexual content
• In NSFW (Not Safe for Work) communities
• Made within quarantine communities

In addition, other Redditors will have the ability to tell if you’re participating in the Contributor Program. Depending upon your tier, you will have a public status that is applied to your profile card and page. No longer wish to be in the program?
