Company Heads Face More Challenges Than Employees

Investing in Employee Well-Being

Think back to your college days. Skipping classes whenever you wanted, knowing all the necessary and unnecessary things about the college surroundings, chatting with friends, going on trips, and, if you saw a cool bike, convincing its owner for a quick ride—that's when you felt the true joy of college life. But how can that kind of life last forever? Time keeps moving forward.

After months of searching for a job, you eventually land one. But now, you must sit in front of a computer from morning till night. How can anyone actually work for 8, 9, or even 10 hours straight?

If someone is working continuously for that long, they are probably capable of more than just being an employee at a company. They likely have the potential to run a company themselves or hold a senior position in the company where they are working. In fact, if they utilized that time for themselves, they might even secure a government job.

Some memes float around on social media: “If employees work well, the owners buy even better cars.” They really could buy a better car, and there's nothing wrong with that. But we should note that they often think ahead and face more challenges than hundreds of employees.

Interestingly, even those who create these memes are often the owners of their own social media pages. While we react with "Haha" emojis or laugh at the videos, they make money from it. But that doesn’t mean company owners are unaware of employees' feelings—they might actually work to solve these issues.

Attendance:

By 9 a.m., you must scan your fingerprint at the office door, or a certain amount will be deducted from your pay for that day. This is the reality for most employees. Even when relatives visit from out of town, the employee might still be stuck in the office. When invited to a local event, they often can’t attend. If companies gave appropriate leave in such situations, employees might be less likely to leave for other jobs.

Work Pressure:

It’s natural for employees to feel mentally stressed when forced to do work beyond their capacity. In such times, employees may start speaking ill of their company or their superiors. Instead, if the company is doing well financially, they can hire more employees to share the workload.

Irritation:

The belief that just paying a good salary will keep an employee happy is a myth. Companies must abandon the mindset that employees will tolerate any amount of irritation just because they’re being paid.

Employee Well-being:

Appointing a mental health professional for employees within the office could help employees openly discuss their issues and resolve them. An owner who engages with their employees fosters greater enthusiasm for work.

Distrust:

If a company head distrusts their employees, they will never be able to recruit or retain good employees.

Salary:

If the company head treats their employees well and pays them a market-competitive salary, there would be no reason for the employee to leave the job.

There are many things to discuss on this, but these are the major points that a company owner should really consider!
