The Little Merchant

A short fantasy

By BrianPublished 5 years ago 2 min read

There once was a little merchant. He was about the age of twelve and he loved to buy and resell goods within the town called Gale.

The boy would go to and fro from one side of the town to the other searching for random goods. He really loved when farmers and ranchers would sell him small things so that he could resell them in the town market place.

One day the boy found a crown made of gold and it had a bright shining red gem on it. He decided not to try to sell it as it seemed someone lost it.

The boy dusted off the crown and put it on his head so he wouldn't lose it. He then set out on a quest to find the one who lost it.

Many people in the town gazed at the boy with the crown. Some loved the look, some seemed to hate that he was wearing it through town; but that didn't bother the boy.

He went to the edges of the town of Gale to ask the farmers if they had any knowledge on who could have lost the crown. He asked them because they were always kind to him.

After many clues from many people, the boy discovered that the crown belonged to a nobleman from the next town over. The nobleman was worried that he would never see his crown again.

The boy spent all his money on food from the villagers in the town so that he would be ready to walk all the way to the next town.

The walk took many days as it was not a close by town. One night as the boy was walking, he saw a pack of wolves. He knew they were hungry as they were searching for food to eat. One wolf caught a glimpse of the boy and the wolf howled loudly to alert the other wolves. The boy only had one option, to throw his own food that he had left at the wolves and sneak away.

The last day of the boy's voyage, he was really hungry and had only crumbs in his pocket. he was a mess and really dirty, but he kept going.

Once he reached the town he nearly collapsed from fatigue. People helped him up and noticed the crown on his head.

The people escorted the boy to the nobleman's palace. The people accused the boy of stealing the crown, but the boy told the nobleman his story.

The nobleman was pleased. He took the crown from the boy and gave the boy a feast for his selfless act. The boy was also given a reward that the nobleman was going to give to the one who found the crown.

The boy used the money he earned to build himself a nicely sized merchant business.

~~ and the boy lived happily for the rest of his days.
