The Book of Hope.
This was written for the sole person to exercise my writing skills.
Hello! I'm Yuki, but my friends nickname for me is Yuki-Chan. Most likely for the fact that I admire anime and Japan itself. Well let me tell you a little bit about a fragment of hope that helps me with things in my life. I found this fragment of hope back last spring, when a huge problem overcame my family.
I confidently sat in my brothers room. I had just snuck in there to use his computer to play video games , like I normally do, when I'm home alone. All of the sudden I heard a loud bang. The type of bang that actually makes you jump. I ended up out of the chair standing straight up. I looked like I had seen a ghost. I quietly crept out of my oldest brothers room, to sneak into my younger brothers room to get his baseball bat. Just then, before I entered, I saw my dad storm into the kitchen. He had his phone next to his ear, I guessed he was on the phone with Mom. Dad sounded angry. I mumbled to myself, "I wonder what their talking about.." I crept to the top stair to listen in on their conversation. "That company- That company thinks they can fire me and place this mountain of debt on me because my assistant said something that wasn't true! I hope someone brings hell to that company!" Dad exhaled. "But darling, I- I don't think-" Dad started to cry. "With this pile of debt.. We won't be able to take care of our family, not even one of us. Not until we get rid of the debt. But w-we don't have that kind of money." Dads voice cracked. I could tell he was in tears without even looking at him. I knew his assistant didn't want to be his partner. But I didn't think she'd take it that far! I was mad, furious. I wanted to march down to her house and slap her for what she's done. I thought to myself, 'What could I do to help get this debt over with..' I started to tear up just thinking about what could happen if we didn't pay it off in time. But it was then and there when the most shocking noise was heard. A loud bang. It sounded like a gunshot. But I doubted dad would ever do something like that. "Right?.."
I ran downstairs. "DAD?!" I screamed. As I bolted in the room dad looked at me horrified. "Yuki! What happened?! Are you hurt!" He ran towards me and looked at me to make sure I was fine. "Yeah.. yeah I'm fine dad." I smiled. "Now tell me what that noise was right now sir!" Dad laughed. "Well it'll sound quite silly but, I opened one of our cabinets to grab a pan to start making dinner. And three pans fell out instead!" Dad pointed to the open cabinet. My eyes went to the floor, I saw the not three, but four pans on the floor. I started to laugh. "Oh! I'm glad your not hurt! Silly you. Now let me pick this up." I quickly walked over to the pans and gently picked each one up and placed them neatly back in their original spots. I looked back at dad and flashed a grin. I didn't know if he interpreted that grin correctly, but as soon as he saw it he scurried to the bag he had brought home. "Yuki! Yuki-dear I bought you this!-" I could tell by the way dad was giving it to me he didn't know if I would like it. "A-a black book? Or is it a journal? Ooh! Or perhaps its a diary!" My eyes sparkled. "W-well its a book with blank pages! So I thought you might like it, you could use it as a diary because I know you've wanted one of those for a while." Dad smiled and nodded while speaking. I gradually looked at him and tears filled my eyes. "Oh thank you, thank you, thank you! Oh I'll cherish and use this as a diary!" Dad laughed. I could tell he thought my reaction was funny. Its not that funny though since I've been asking for a diary since I was 12 and now I'm 15. Three years passed to finally get one. I suddenly spoke without controlling myself. "Oh and dad? I know about your debt issue. I overheard you talking about it with.. Was it mom? Well I'll gladly do whatever I can to help!" I could tell dad started to tear up, he looked at me with approval and smiled. I knew he was happy. I ran upstairs but as I ran into my room my hand smacked over my mouth. I was mumbling through my hand. "Oh my god.. I did not just- oh no.. Well he knows I heard now! No turning back." "Well this diary.. I could use it as a problem diary! One where I write issues in my life, and vent in it. Or I could use it as a normal diary and write about my daily life and gross stuff like love!" I felt gross while even saying the L word. I stopped trusting love ever since, hm, what was his name err- Benjamin no- David? Well it doesn't matter. Ever since he divorced mom. But that doesn't matter! I like our new dad even more now! I went to go text the group chat with my friends in it.
Amaya: What are you guys doing up? It's 2 in the morning.. UH WELL I'M UP TOO. Haha. I should go to bed. Night! Or morning..
Gross Guy left the chat.
Me: Hey guys guess what! My dad bought me a diary! Well its really a black empty book! But I'll use it as a diary.
Hanako("I'm not a girl!"): Woah! That sounds cool! :) Have fun using it!
Amaya: YAY! Finally. Its about TIME.
Misaki: Ew. Aren't diary's for baby's. HAHA! Yuki-crap is a baby!
Misaki: Sorry my brother took my phone! But, yay congrats Yuki-Chan!
Hanako changed Amaya's name to Demon.
As I read what Hanako changed Amaya's name too I broke out into laughter. I ended up falling off of my bed and rolling around on my floor. "Ah! I should write in my diary!" I opened the newly bought book. The empty pages smelt nice. I have always liked the smell of new books. I looked at the first page and then picked up my pen. I entered the date "4/12/17" I started to write. "Dear Diary, today I found out my dad got in huge debt. I don't remember him saying the price but by the way he reacted I think it must be a 15-20 thousand dollar estimate. I hope I can earn money fast to help him! What do I do!!! Do I tell my friends? I don't want them wasting money on me. Please help!!!" "Sincerely, Yuki." I walked out of the room to go to the bathroom. I suddenly see my younger brother. "Dad must've brought you home huh? Now get out of my bathroom!" He ran out. I knew he had planned to mess up my bathroom. I finally got done and went back to my room to close and hide my diary. I was almost about to close it, but then I realized the words changed from black to the color of blood. I got freaked out and then closed and hid it fast. I looked over towards my window since doing that always calms me down. I gasped and I thought someone broke in and left money on my floor near my window. I couldn't believe it. I cautiously walked over to the stack of money and touched it. Nope, it wasn't fake it was money. I counted it. There was $20,000 dollars sitting on my floor. I stuffed it in my bag. I had to know if it was real or not. I then told dad I'd be back before 6:00 p.m. and bolted and ran to the store down the street. I bought a pack of gum and a few cans of soda. The cashier said the total came out to $9.27. I handed her a $10 dollar bill. She looked at me. I thought. I knew it, the money was fake! She handed me back change and handed me my bag of things. "Have a nice day.." She groaned. I ran out and took a deep breath. "T-there's no way that actually happened. Was it the book? I-I'll try again when I get home.." I was walking home and as I got to my street I saw a stray cat. I pet it and picked it up and brought it inside the house. Dad caught me bringing it inside. "Young lady! Why do you have a cat? Did you just go out and buy it?" I answered. "No dad, it was a stray I'm going to care for it for the night and possibly find it an owner tomorrow." Dad whispered, "Okay.." I brought the cat to my room and wrote an entry for cat supplies. Sure enough a few seconds later there was a bag of cat food on my bed along with bowls and cat supplies. "Here you go little guy.. eat up." The cat ate the food like it hadn't been fed in a month. I stroked the cat and ended up falling asleep with it in my lap. Finally a week later I got the courage to tell my friends. Everyone was amazed. We laughed and I helped give them things they needed in life. Soon I had to give up the cat because dad said that the cat couldn't be here anymore. I gave the cat and all these supplies to this young girl named Mia and her grateful mother. I had planned to meet up with Misaki tomorrow for my birthday, so we could hang out before my 'Sweet 16' party. I met her by an alleyway near the grocery store. "HI YUKI-CHAN!!" She ran towards me and squeezed me. I thought I would die. "H-Hello Misaki!" I tried to hug back but it was a weak hug. "Did you bring the diary? I wanna see it in action!" I kindly replied. "Yes! I did let me grab it." Little did I know I should've never gone in the first place. As I went to grab it I was too blind to realize that Misaki had gone and grabbed something from her bag. Quicker than me. I turned back around and then I couldn't tell what happened. I only saw red fly onto Misaki. "Did someone open a ketchup packed and it flew onto Misaki?" I looked down. No. No.. NO! I didn't feel so much pain until I looked at what had happen. She brought me into this alley way to-.. I got dizzy. The pain was too much. "M-Mikasa I-" I got light headed. It hurt so much. Then I hear. "Its ok now Yuki-Chan." "You'll definitely be alright!" "Have fun!" Then she took my bag and ran away laughing as I fell to the floor.
It all went black. The last words and last memory I had were haunting me. I don't know where I am. It's all dark. I can't believe what happened then. But all I can say was.
The last thing I saw was a knife through my stomach.
I never believed something like that was ever possible to happen to me.. Especially by Misaki..
