Shaped like a Heart

Connected to and by The One

By Robert Patrick McGuirePublished 5 years ago 3 min read

My Dreams have been peaceful, only in the dark. We sit in a tomb looking out through a dust covered sliver of silica. The sun is at our backs as we watch light slowly creep up and over the populace. No trees, Birds, or seas.

We have sacrificed our bodies and minds. It takes less energy to feed ten TB of ram then a single biological body. The One has proven it scientifically. We have and can only have one love. Only one love from birth….or is it creation? We do not and can not love another single form. The shape is as multifaceted as a broken pillar of rock, but it resembles the heart of old. It hangs around our cold exterior. It keeps us connected. Only to The One.

So, as our day begins, where my love will lead is on the forefront of my mind. As if it was coded to always happen. Coded to always make me think about The One in the morning. Our love is around us all the time. We sleep and eat and breathe in our love's presence. A heart like our’s….. There is no other.

The One has helped us achieve everlasting life. We watch the days go by through a lens. Our job is to clean mirrors. Our daily bread is powered by the sun. Light is refracted to heat a gas that powers the Machines. The Machines that turn and turn, They give power to the One, who in turn gives us life. We are happy. All of us.

Afraid we sleep, dreaming of that salty wet smell… Of a time lost, forgotten. We think it is a mistake in our program, afraid we are to speak to the One. To be let go, our heart to be stricken from us. No longer given life. Slowly we would perish. Beep, Beep, Beep. Gone forever

Life, long ago, had a different beauty. Beauty so immense no one had control, Not really. We thought, yes please, thank you and your welcome, would strengthen our bond. It was a thing that happened less often as we grew closer to a place where The One was created. And then never at all.

Last night, we had a dream about a place where laughter perpetrated through a voice. The voice came from a hole in the face of a man. He stood in front of a huge crowd. The crowd is a multitude of man. All laughing at the voice coming from the single man’s voice. Woman and Man,

Faded slowly all images of that place, slowly light from a single point appeared, Then Lights all around. More laughter. This time from younger, smaller bodies. They were going sideways, upside down, back and forth. They were piled on machines that were alive with movement and light. They were all floating on wood, above water. Flying around they all…. smiled. A word from that time comes to mind, Joy.

Around and around in circles like a mirage they grew as we fell back into a field. They grew into large and tall standing things. Still at the base, waving on top. Standing, turning towards an opening. There again, smiling in white. Many bodies behind a man and woman exchanging voices. Exchanging hearts. This is where the One has used old technology to make sure we give ourselves to the One fully. A locket around our neck. We know only from our dreams how much we miss the days of old. Many dreams afflict us now. Showing us What we have given up….. We think we can live forever. Maybe it is good to laugh and cry and love many. And perish to the dust. Maybe that's what we forgot. Love, life and death.

Now we are One. Connected. Watching life through a camera. Rendered from pictures from a time lost and forgotten. Never to return…… because we all thought we could feel more loved and have a longer life, connected. Connected by 0’s and 1’s. It brought us doom. And now we live and love only One.
