Self-Consciousness and Divine-Consciousness

By Julie O'Hara - Author, Poet and Spiritual WarriorPublished 2 years ago Updated 2 years ago 3 min read

I have talked about this before. All knowledge comes from Source. As individuals, we may be gifted with the ability to interpret the knowledge, assimilate and share it, but all knowledge comes from Source.

As humans we do not “create” knowledge. We are given the resources (our brains and the brains of humans before us) to interpret and learn the knowledge that we are given. That said, sometimes knowledge is sent to us, and we misinterpret it, and it becomes a corrupted part of human experience.

One concept that has been misinterpreted from Source guidance is the term “self-consciousness.” Our lexicon has interpreted this term to mean “ashamed” “embarrassed”, “being uncomfortable about other’s opinion of us.” That is far from the truth of what the term truly means (although it is easy to see how it has been corrupted).

Webster’s defines self-consciousness as:

A: conscious of one's own acts or states as belonging to or originating in oneself: aware of oneself as an individual

B: intensely aware of oneself

C: uncomfortably conscious of oneself as an object of the observation of others

Definition A and B are close to the true definition but are still a misinterpretation.

There are two types of consciousness in human existence. They are:

God/Divine Consciousness which is where you find surrender, love, kindness, humility, faith and acceptance.

Self Consciousness which is where you find ego, triggering, false assumptions, pride, arrogance, hatred and intolerance.

Each and every one of us carries both of these inside of us. The key is to learn to trust the Divine Consciousness and bury the Self Consciousness as it serves no purpose in your path back to Source.

As souls we all have individual “learning plans” that we design during Soul Negotiation contracts. But also, every one us is challenged to embrace our Divine Consciousness and release Self Consciousness. Our ultimate goal is to become one with Source again, and to do that you cannot be singular. Divine Consciousness = becoming I AM (one with all). Self Consciousness = becoming I am (just me).

This information has been sent to mankind over and over again, and unfortunately, it has been misconstrued somewhat correctly, but has become an erroneous catch all phrase for being ashamed of outward manifestations and modalities, instead of understanding it is about releasing negative human behavior. It is an easy misinterpretation. Hopefully, we can put that to rest now.

In our world today, we interpret being self conscious as being ashamed of our outer appearance, or and discomfort with our personality, or many other negative connotations about ourself. Those are all corruptions caused by ego (making everything about oneself). In other words, we are tasked with understanding and releasing (surrendering) our “self-consciousness” which is ego and human will and embracing “divine-consciousness which is about love, acceptance, and humility.

As humans when we make a choice to follow through with an action whether that is a thought, or a comment, or a physical action, we need to always try to manifest our decisions, actions and behavior through divine consciousness and not self consciousness.

It all goes back to the 18 waves of ascension which I have discussed before but I am listing here again.

Ascension:

There are 18 waves of consciousness that must be attained before ascension. They correlate with Ego, Surrender and Faith.

Levels of consciousness are:

Ego (self consciousness or being overly aware of self) (Ego must be released or "killed off"):

1. Shame

2. Guilt

3. Apathy

4. Grief

5. Fear

6. Desire

7. Anger

8. Pride

Surrender: (usually this is when you start to wake up and go through Kundalini Awakening and Dark Night of the Soul. This is when you release your own will (self consciousness) and start to have faith)

9. Courage

10. Neutrality

11. Acceptance

12. Willingness

13. Reason

Faith (Embracing the knowledge that the Divine is in Charge and accepting the Divine's will over free will):

14. Love

15. Joy

16. Peace

17. Enlightenment

18. God Consciousness or Ascension

Incredible and very eye opening. We all should have this type of awareness on a regular basis.
