Sage and the Ancestral Records

Have you ever been led by your dreams to find something so miraculous that you cannot imagine it to be true?” Sage explained her dream to her trusted spirit creatures.

It was 1996, and Sage was only 5 years old when she began having dream visions. Sage lived in a quaint cottage with her mother. Next door was the tree village where Sage would play by her favorite tree trunk with her imaginary spirit creatures. Sage’s mother was always smilingly baking, but Sage knew her mother was stressed with money to finance their home. Sage felt immense empathy for her mother, and that was when she began having her dream visions.

This dream makes me feel like I need to go on this quest to find this treasured artifact,” Sage bravely proclaimed to her spirit creatures. “This mysterious object looked a lot like a little black notebook with a curious embedded emerald crystal!” Her voice was soft and confident in her conviction.

Every morning Sage shrugged off her visions and would tell them to her spirit creatures at her favorite tree trunk. Sage’s mother always made sure she did not roam too far from their abode. “Don’t wander too far from the house, darling,” Sage’s mother echoed through the kitchen while baking their favorite strawberry meringue cookies.

Sage giggled and continued to tell her creature friends the detailed dream. “Dearest Frank, please know that the tree trunk did insist on being glowing, and then everything turned white! The notebook appeared in the rock, and I felt that I needed to find what was inside!” Frank, her frog spirit, nodded back in bewilderment with intuitive suspicion that unusual events were to unravel next.

The other spirit creatures, Lilith the Blue Jay, Jasmine the Swan, Ana the Bear, and Luna the Moth, all smilingly nodded. As the last nod of her spirit creatures occurred, the tree trunk behind her activated a glowing light, and Sage could not believe her eyes. She felt a calling and strong impulse to explore below with the guidance of her spirits. Luna and Lilith flew above the tree trunk and saw a carved door. Jasmine pointed her wings to reveal glowing stairs that spiraled downwards and led to a crystallized cave. Jasmine encouraged Sage to begin her adventure down the tree trunk.

Sage and her spirit creatures finished their last step down the stairwell path and saw a glistening pool of water. Eyes were peaking from above the water surface. “Is that a whale spirit?” Sage asked Ana. Frank was already hopping to the whale, and they all skipped to catch up to him.

Hello, young one. My name is Sol, and I am your whale spirit. Allow me to be your guide to what you seek. Please gently climb aboard, and I will take you there.” Sage bravely smiled at her companions, knowing that this was a mission only she could take and climbed to the top of Sol. As she waved goodbye to her spirit creatures, Sol began swiftly swimming upstream to what looked to be an island. As they approached, a glowing light pulsated at a particular stone on the island.

Can it be!” Sage gasped when she saw her black notebook and the embedded emerald crystal on the front cover. The notebook was sunk into the rock formation, just like her dream vision, and there was a light flickering from the emerald crystal like a lighthouse beacon.

Sol wisely whispered to Sage as she gently batted her eyes. “May you accept the offering your ancestor guides have given you. I will be waiting.

Sage hopped off and ran to the notebook. She closed her eyes and touched the front cover crystal, and as she suspected, the notebook fell onto her hands. Sage, with glistening eyes, wept as she turned to the first page that read, "The Ancestral Records." A treasure map lightly swayed out of the pages and landed on the ground.

Sage picked up the map and proudly read the prompt. “To whom may have found this map, I know the struggle one has to find the treasure desperately. Be patient, and it will be revealed.” Sage intuitively knew that the map would lead her to the treasure buried next to the tree trunk above.

Sage took the notebook and was guided back with the help of Sol to the cave entrance. Her spirit creatures clapped as she hugged Sol goodbye, thanking her for showing the way. They ran up the stairs and stepped out of the tree trunk. With the door closed, the glowing light dimmed and sealed the tree trunk shut. A seed of light appeared next to Sage in the soil. Sage began digging where the light appeared, wiping the sweat from her forehead. A gold foiled envelope glistened above the excavated soil. Sage opened the envelope, and inside was a large ruby gem and a note. Sage read the note aloud, “A gift from your ancestors. You found the hidden treasure. Ruby worth 20,000 dollars.

Sage was in awe of her power that led her to find the gift from her newly found ancestors. The wind grew stronger against the trees as Sage heard her mother gently say, “Sage, honey, come grab your cookie!

Sage felt the joy to show her mother the gift and carried the cherished gem inside the house. Her mother was also having visions prior and did not think they were real. Now believing, her mother accepted the gift. She wept at the note because she knew this gem would help finance their beloved cottage.

Sage cheered while looking back through the window to see her spirit creatures clapping in rejoice. Sage smiled at her mom and thought to herself that she would never underestimate her powers again.
