Operation Hubris

The collapse of capitalism.

To Order comrade Generals!”

Silence descended immediately upon the room at the command of Chairman General Hu Janito as he announced his entry. The Paramount leader of the People’s Republic of China, the People’s Liberation Army and the Central Military Commission, the true seat of China’s power. The eight members and three vice chairmen of the commission had been awaiting Janito’s arrival, discussing how influences had been successful in the American sub prime mortgage market, and how the “silly Yankees” had been so besotted with money, they could not see the danger they were in. It was just a matter of time now.

That was past business, seeing the fruit of their labours coming slowly to fruition. Now to new business on this icy twenty-fifth day of December 2007, a day when the consumeristic onslaught of the west was at fever pitch, but here in this Beijing conference room, ten storeys underground, it was like any other Tuesday and the next phase in the rise of the Party was to be discussed. Twenty years of careful planning, stalking the prey, now ready to strike. The western capitalists believed that they had infiltrated China’s heart and corrupted it with their money. How wrong they were.

“General Caihou a report on diplomatic strategies please“ General Janito signalled the meeting had commenced in his straight to business style.

General Xu Caihou head of the People’s Liberation Army’s Political Department came to a stand saluting General Janito. ”Paramount Leader Chairman and comrade members, we have been extremely successful in our diplomatic activities with the new president of the United States, Mr Obama states he wants to see borders torn down and free trade to prosper. However there is still much negotiations to be had on that front. The true victories have occurred with the new Australian prime minister, the money China invested into his election will prove to be a wise investment. Mr Rudd is convinced he can control China, agreeing to everything proposed with very little negotiation at all. His wife wanted a Hong Kong office for her international recruitment company, we exchanged this for priority placement of People’s Liberation Army cadets in Australian government roles. I believe the Australian plan will proceed with very little opposition comrade paramount leader.” His report finished, General Caihou saluted once more and resumed his seat.

General Janito contemplated carefully the report presented to the commission, although he was already well aware of the contents prior to entering the room. “Thank you General Caihou, I believe we will push ahead with buying the Australian ports.” Janito grinned as he continued with business, “General Xuejun please report on the cryptograph project.”

General Yang Xuejun head of the military science academy, arose and gave the precise salute of the newest member of the commission “Comrade Chairman Paramount Leader, comrade members, I too have victorious news to convey, our People’s Liberation Army scientists and engineers, continue to be educated in Australia‘s most prestigious universities, the collaborative efforts have seen Lieutenant Liu Xinwang of the People’s Liberation Army achieve his doctorate in computer science, at the University of New South Wales, the university also received Australian government grants to fund the development of a new super computer of one million eight hundred thousand Australian dollars, the project is nearing completion and is being replicated here in Beijing and will be the fastest super computer ever built. Lietenant Xinwang has also been secretly operating a team of programming specialists to produce a decentralised currency that will allow international transfer of funds outside of the regulated markets of all countries. Further each country will establish a way to convert the currency into local currency to enable commerce to operate.” General Xuejun paused and was about to continue.

”Will this decentralised currency be for use only by China?” General Janito interrupted.

”No Comrade Chairman, it needs to be available to anyone who wants to use it to be most effective.” General Xuejun answered.

”How will we involve the general population?” Janito persisted.

”We will start with criminal networks comrade Chairman.” Xuejun replied.

”How do you intend to gain trust in those networks?” Janito was digging deep into the plan.

“Trust comrade chairman is a very important aspect, Lieutenant Xinwang has decided to name the author of the code Satoshi Nakamoto, two common Japanese names, the world already trusts Japanese technology.” Xuejun was ready for any question. “It will appear to be written by a Japanese recluse, who will disappear without a trace.“ Xuejun rose to the challenge.

“How will China keep control of this decentralised currency.” Janito continued.

”China will control the bulk of the electronic transactions, duplicating each one so that half of the currency is always in Chinese hands, we will use those holdings to control the value, driving the value up or down as our purposes require.” Xuejun countered.

“Will the world not realise that it was a creation of China?” Janito quizzed.

”The west Comrade Chairman, is enamoured with money, greed and consumerism blind them to such obvious questions, and should anyone ask, we will simply say it is processed in China because electricity is less expensive in China, this will make sense in their profit driven intellect.“ Xuejun proudly stated.

”What will this currency be known as comrade Xuejun?” General Janito asked with genuine interest, knowing the collapse of capitalism was imminent.

”Lieutenant Xinwang has named it BitCoin Comrade Chairman.” smiled General Xuejun.
