At Computex 2024, Intel revealed a generation of mobile chips codenamed "Lunar Lake" with many notable improvements, promising to mark a major shift for the company in the AI era, as well as confront Qualcomm's ARM-based chips that are emerging in the laptop market today.
Three months later, at an event held in Berlin, Germany, just a few days before IFA 2024, Intel officially introduced the commercial product line from Lunar Lake, which is the Intel Core Ultra 200V series. One of the issues that users care about most on laptops is battery life and this is the first improvement that Intel wants to emphasize. The company said that Intel Core Ultra 200V provides leading power savings for AI PC models and the parameters show that 200V is developed around ensuring battery life and at the same time providing impressive power.
Intel said that the system has computing power of up to 120 TOPS (tera operations per second, trillions of calculations in one second) from CPU, GPU, and NPU, providing a highly compatible AI experience and good performance for all models and toolkits with up to 50% lower power consumption.

Thanks to the integration of the fourth-generation NPU, which is four times more powerful than the previous generation, the new processors can run AI applications continuously while still ensuring power savings. Intel has cooperated with more than 100 Integrated Software Vendors (ISVs) and developers through the AI PC Promotion Program to create a processing platform with leading TOPS parameters today with more than 300 AI acceleration features.
Intel has also adjusted the power management to provide better performance and power savings. Combining a completely redesigned Performance-core (P-core) to optimize performance per unit of power and area, and Intel's most powerful Efficiency-core (E-core) to date, the company says the new processor can run more applications, while still ensuring the system stays cool and quiet.

Intel now uses a new, simpler 4:4 core system to save energy. You will get four new "Lion Cove" high-performance P-cores and four new "Skymont" E-cores.

Intel said that an 8-core single-thread Lunar Lake chip will be equivalent to the performance of a 22-core multi-threaded Meteor Lake chip. This is due to the three times increase in performance per thread that the new Lunar Lake architecture brings compared to previous-generation Meteor Lake chips.
